The Windsor Community Foundation has been a significant contributor to the Windsor community since its establishment in 2001. It has actively supported various local causes and educational scholarships.
Early Contributions and Disaster Relief:
- Contributed over $60,000 for the planning and construction of the Windsor Recreation Center.
- Distributed over $630,000 to residents affected by the 2008 tornado in collaboration with the Weld Community Foundation.
- Raised $166,000 through the Windsor Parks and Recreation Re-Create Fund to help re-create lost Parks and Recreation amenities following the tornado.
Ongoing Support for Local Nonprofits:
- Awarded over $80,000 in grants to local nonprofits such as 60+ Ride, Junior Achievement, Mary’s Cradle, Lutheran Family Services, Stepping Stones of Windsor, Weld Food Bank-Windsor Mobile Food Pantry, and Timberline Church-Backpack program.
- Provided $81,250 in scholarships to 47 Windsor RE-4 School District students, including three $1,500 scholarships awarded in 2024.
Future Focus on Scholarships and Community Support:
- Identifying emerging community needs by meeting with town leaders and members.
- Addressing the need for scholarships for students pursuing two-year degrees or vocational certifications.
- Fundraising efforts planned to support these educational goals and other areas of need in the community.
