Description

The 5th  Annual STOMP OUT HUNGER 5K RUN AND 1 MILE WALK will be a live in person event for all those who have been fully vaccinated by Oct 1 2021 scheduled for Oct 30th Saturday at 8am in Kihei, HI 96753   Those who are not vaccinated can participate in this fundraiser event virtually.  Since it is Halloween weekend there will also be a judged Halloween Costume Contest at the awards ceremony.  This event is a fundraiser for Hale Kau Kau, a non profit dedicated to feeding the hungry on Maui.    We deliver meals to the homebound elderly and disabled and serve a hot meal from the kitchen every evening.  For 30 years, we have never missed a meal.  Each evening we deliver 80 meals to the elderly and serve another 40-60 meals from the kitchen.

Both the Run and Walk will be on Saturday, October 30 2021 at 8am for the 5k run start and 8:15 for the 1 mile walk both start and finish at Hale Kau Kau 25 W Lipoa Street in Kihei, parking free at ST. Theresa Church.  Only those who are fully vaccinated can participate in the live in person running of the events.

The race will be virtual for anyone who cannot be on Maui or who have not been fully vaccinated, but would like to support Hale Kau Kau.  Just run the 5k or walk the 1 mile where you live and send us your results to halekaukaufundraising@rcchawaii.org.

The 5K race will have 5 year age group awards from 9-100.  The corporate challenge is an opportunity for any company, business or organization to send in 4 runners to compete for the Corporate Challenge Award.

In 2019  the Fairmont Kea Lani won the 1st Annual Corporate Challenge Award.

All are welcome to run or walk either event -the 5k (3.1miles) or the 1 Mile  we will have a wheelchair division.  The course is 90% back roads, flat and fast.

This is a USATF sanctioned event and hosted by the HKK Road and Track Club

Proceeds of race go to: Hale Kau Kau: Feeding the Hungry with Compassion & Aloha.  Every day Hale Kau Kau delivers 80 hot meals to the home bound elderly, sick, and disabled and HKK serves 40-60  hot meals from the kitchen to all who come in need of a meal
