The 4th Annual+ STOMP OUT HUNGER 5K AND 1 MILE WALK will be a virtual event (was scheduled for Oct 31st) and a Halloween Costume event, we have to wear a mask might as well add a costume! This event is a fundraiser for Hale Kau Kau, a non profit dedicated to feeding the hungry on Maui. We deliver meals to the homebound elderly and disabled and serve a hot meal from the kitchen every evening. For 28 years, we have never missed a meal. Each evening we deliver 80 meals to the elderly and serve another 60-80 meals from the kitchen. During this unique time with Covid 19 so prevalent we are vigilant in maintaining social distancing, practicing good health habits and requiring all to where a mask. We provide masks for our guests who come to the kitchen and do not have a mask.
Both the Run and Walk will be on Saturday, October 31, 2019 at 8am run and 8:15 walk if we are allowed to run it live and in person. The race will be virtual for anyone who does not live on Maui and hopefully, if allowed, local runners can run the course on October 31st. (race starts on the campus of St. Theresa in Kihei 25 Lipoa Street.) If not allowed, everyone will be able to do the race/walk virtually. The 5K race will have 5 year age group awards from 9-99. The corporate challenge will be run as a virtual event, any corporation, business or company can submit a team for the 5k. There will be a awards for a men's team and women's team . Each team will require at least three runners to score. Last year the Fairmont Kea Lani won the 1st Annual Corporate Challenge Award. All are welcome to run or walk either event -the 5k (3.1miles) or the 1 Mile anywhere in the world, around your block or on your favorite mile or 5K course.. For those virtually running the 5k or walking the mile, you have until Nov 30th to complete the run or walk and submit your time. Send you time to halekaukaufundraiser@rcchawaii.org or mtrotto@liu.edu
Send in your costume photo, must be able to run in the costume to mtrotto@liu.edu
