Description

The 6th  Annual STOMP OUT HUNGER 5K RUN AND 1 MILE WALK will be a live in person event 0n Oct 29th Saturday at 8am in Kihei, HI 96753   Those who are not on Maui for this fundraiser  can walk/run either event virtually.  Since it is Halloween weekend there will also be a judged Halloween Costume Contest at the awards ceremony.  This event is a fundraiser for Hale Kau Kau, a non profit dedicated to feeding the hungry on Maui.    We deliver meals to the homebound elderly and disabled and serve a hot meal from the kitchen every evening.  For 30 years, we have never missed a day.  Each evening we deliver 75 meals to the elderly and serve another 40-60 meals from the kitchen to any one who comes for a meal, no questions asked.

Both the Run and Walk will be on Saturday, October 29 2022 at 8am for the 5k run start and 8:15 for the 1 mile walk both start and finish at Hale Kau Kau 25 W Lipoa Street in Kihei, parking free at ST. Those not on Maui on Oct 29th  can participate virtually, run/walk where they live and submit their results to Dr Mary by Oct 31st .  Although those who do the race virtually will not be eligible for a age group award, if the register early they will receive a shirt and certificate of completion.   Please contact Dr Mary for more information or questions: Mahalo halekaukaufundraising@rcchawaii.org.

The 5K race will have 5 year age group awards from 9-100.  The corporate challenge is an opportunity for any company, business or organization to send in 4 runners to compete for the Corporate Challenge Award.

In 2019  the Fairmont Kea Lani won the 1st Annual Corporate Challenge Award.

All are welcome to run or walk either event -the 5k (3.1miles) or the 1 Mile  we will have a wheelchair division.  The course is 90% back roads, flat and fast.
