The 6th Annual STOMP OUT HUNGER 5K RUN AND 1 MILE WALK will be a live in person event 0n Oct 29th Saturday at 8am in Kihei, HI 96753 Those who are not on Maui for this fundraiser can walk/run either event virtually. Since it is Halloween weekend there will also be a judged Halloween Costume Contest at the awards ceremony. This event is a fundraiser for Hale Kau Kau, a non profit dedicated to feeding the hungry on Maui. We deliver meals to the homebound elderly and disabled and serve a hot meal from the kitchen every evening. For 30 years, we have never missed a day. Each evening we deliver 75 meals to the elderly and serve another 40-60 meals from the kitchen to any one who comes for a meal, no questions asked.
Both the Run and Walk will be on Saturday, October 29 2022 at 8am for the 5k run start and 8:15 for the 1 mile walk both start and finish at Hale Kau Kau 25 W Lipoa Street in Kihei, parking free at ST. Theresa Church. There will also be a 4 person corporate team challange, any business or company on Maui can send in a max of 3 (4 person) teams - a men's team, a women's team and a mixed team (must have at least 2 women on the mixed team.
Those not on Maui on Oct 29th can participate virtually, run/walk where they live and submit their results to Dr Mary by Oct 31st . Although those who do the race virtually will not be eligible for a age group award, if the register early they will receive a shirt and certificate of completion. The 5K race will have 5 year age group awards from 9-100. The corporate challenge is an opportunity for any company, business or organization to send in 4 runners to compete for the Corporate Challenge Award.
In 2019 the Fairmont Kea Lani won the 1st Annual Corporate Challenge Award.
All are welcome to run or walk either event -the 5k (3.1miles) or the 1 Mile we will have a wheelchair division. The course is 90% back roads, flat and fast.
This is a USATF sanctioned event and hosted by the HKK Road and Track Club
Proceeds of race go to: Hale Kau Kau: Feeding the Hungry with Compassion & Aloha. Every day Hale Kau Kau delivers 80 hot meals to the home bound elderly, sick, and disabled and HKK serves 40-60 hot meals from the kitchen to all who come in need of a meal
