Although we hope to see your faces and celebrate raising critical funds for Blueprint we will only hold our event if state and local public health guidance indicate that it is safe for us to do so. If the event is canceled then we thank you for very generously donating your registration fee as a way to support HRDC's Blueprint Continuum of Care and youth experiencing homelessness in our community. No refund will be provided to participants. Thank you for supporting!
Why am I doing this and what is Blueprint? First of all, because you are awesome! Secondly, Blueprint's Continuum of Care are programs run by HRDC that provides housing, resources, and support for youth experiencing moments of homelessness or housing instability. They are amazing programs that have a huge impact on the lives of those involved.
Can I bring my dog to the BOAR? Unfortunately, while we love your furry friend as much as the next race organizers, dogs are not allowed on the course. It's best to leave them at home for the morning.
What's the terrain of the course? The terrain of the course will be mainly hard dirt with uneven ground at times.
Can I push my child in a stroller (1K only)? The 1K course will be designed to include people using strollers. We do encourage you to ponder can your stroller handle the terrain of the course.
Are individuals with crutches, canes, or wheelchairs able to do the 1K? Yes. However, we encourage everyone to have a support team to aid them along the journey.
Are individuals with crutches, canes, or wheelchairs able to do the 5K? No. Due to the length, time restrictions, and narrowness of the course at points. Adaptive athletes are welcome, please contact The BOAR if you have questions.
Is there a limit to how big my team can be? No! In fact, there will be prizes specifically for teams.
What should I name my team? Great question and one that we can't answer, but there is a lot of pride riding on it. Most creative team names get prizes!
Team Registration and Start Times?
The only way to ensure that you will start at the exact same time as your friends is to create a Team. You can create a team during the registration process for your friends to join (or join your friend's team).
How do I register and create a team?
You can create a team when you sign up. When you sign up, add your additional registrants. Then click, "Yes" to "Would you like to create a Group/Team?"
Then, you can "Create a New Group/Team."
And finally, for your additional registrants, click, "Join the Same Group/Team."
Can I skip an obstacle? Is there a penalty? NO, and YES; The BOAR participants don't skip obstacles, they overcome them. However, if you attempt an obstacle that you simply cannot overcome there will be a challenge that you will have to complete before you move on. (eg. jumping jacks)
How far is the BOAR? There are two races. One is a 1K run/walk/roll with obstacles that are designed to be equitable. The 5K is designed to be a little more competitive and will not necessarily cater to all abilities.
What's the difference in the 1K and 5K? Besides the distance of the non-obstacle portion, the 1K is designed to be accessible to people and families of all abilities. The 5K will likely be a little more challenging for most people. That's not to say it isn't a worthy challenge for people and families of all abilities too!
Where do I pick up my race packet? To be determined.
Can I have a friend pick up my race packet?
Yes, if you are not able to pick up your packet, send a friend!
Can I have a friend run the BOAR for me? What if I'm sick? Yes, you can, but you'll be missing out!
Where do I park? We highly encourage you to carpool! Parking zones are located on The BOAR map.
Will there be parking specifically for individuals with diversabilities? Yes, the parking lot at Glenn Lake Rotary Park will be prioritized for people with diversabilities.
What happens if one of my teammates can't make it? Totally their loss! Come and have fun anyway!
Can I change my shirt size? No, sorry. You can ask around to see if you can trade. Otherwise, eat a few more (or fewer, ahem) ice cream cones to fill yours out!
Is there a place to lock up my belongings while I run? No. The BOAR organizers are not responsible for lost or stolen items.
Will there be port-a-potties on the route? No, take care of things prior.
Can I get a refund? Unfortunately, no. You can find a friend to take your place, but the BOAR cannot give refunds, sorry! Don't be surprised if your friend tells you that you missed an awesome event and you feel really jealous afterward.
