​​​ You may have someone pick up your race packet for you. 
 
Plan to register and pick up your packet before race day. Please do not call the location of the packet pick-up. If you have questions, please email 
hburghalfmarathon@gmail.com. 

Alternative race packet pick-up will be at a designated tent near the start/finish line from 5:30-6:30am on race day. (No late pickups.)
 
Race details
 
April 11, begins at 7am 
201 Forrest St (Intersection of Forrest & W Front St). The race will start downtown in front of the Historic Saenger Theater.

Course Time Limit:
Half marathoners: 4 hr limit
10k & 5k: 2hr limit
Timing provided by Mississippi Race Timing.
Suggested Parking: Cadence, Trinity Episcopal Church, Mississippi Power, Sacred Heart High School, Main Street Church, Pine Street Parking Garage & Trustmark Park.
Award Info: Awards will be given at the Finisher's Fest to overall male & female for the half marathon, the top 3 male/female finishers in each age group for the half marathon, top 3 male/female finishers in each age group 10k & 5k and overall male and female for 5k walk. 
5K Age Groups: 0-7, 8-12, 13-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+
10K Age Groups: 19 and under, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+
Half Marathon Age Groups: 19 and under, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+

5K awards will begin at 9:15 AM, with 10K awards immediately following. Overall male and female Half Marathon winners will be recognized right after.

All remaining Half Marathon awards will be available for pickup at the awards tent once final results are complete.

 

Schedule of events
Friday, April 103 pm - 7 pm: packet pickup 
Saturday, April 11
5:30-6:30 am: packet pickup at start/finish line
6:40 am: runners should be in their designated flight zone 
6:50 am: pre-run ceremonies begin
7:00 am: Half Marathon starts
7:05 am: 10k starts
7:10 am: 5k starts
7:45 am: after party 
9:15 am: awards ceremony begins 
 

Traffic and Parking

Early Downtown Closure Timeline:

6:00AM - HPD muster, as soon as they finish we will start assigning posts for roads to be closed

6:15AM - Front Street and Ronie Street closures begin and West Pine from Main to Pine begin to prevent additional parking

6:30AM - Course closures begin (no access down Front Street starting at West Pine, Main St, West Pine, McLeod and Hardy // these closures will be rolling so once we start the crew will close mile by mile)

We are working in close coordination with the City of Hattiesburg to ensure the safety of runners, volunteers, residents, and motorists throughout race day.

Road closures will be in effect on Saturday, April 11 from approximately 6:15 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. along the various stretches of the racecourse. These closures will impact several areas, including:

Downtown Hattiesburg Historic District
Katie-John-Dabbs neighborhood
North Main Street neighborhood
The Oaks
Parkhaven
Longleaf Heights
Areas surrounding the Longleaf Trace and The University of Southern Mississippi
While traffic will continue to move throughout the city with the assistance of law enforcement and trained volunteers, delays should be expected in and around the race route.

 

The following streets will be closed for the majority of the event:

Hardy Street (1st Avenue to West Pine Street/West Front Street)
Expected to reopen at 1:00p.m.
Ronie Street (into Front Street)
West Pine Street (north and southbound lanes from Broadway near Hall Avenue to Hardy Street)
Expected to reopen by 10:00 a.m.
Forrest Street (Green Street to West Front Street)
Expected to reopen by 12:00p.m.
Front Street (Hardy Street to Main Street)
Expected to reopen by 12:00p.m.
Access to South 17th Avenue from Hardy Street
Access to South 19th Avenue from Hardy Street
Hardy Street Traffic Adjustment

A lane shift will be in place on Hardy Street between South 17th Avenue and South 19th Avenue. Runners will be utilizing the right eastbound lane while traveling west.
Detour routes will be clearly marked, and certain intersections will reopen as soon as it is safe to do so once runners have passed.

Racecourse Areas of Impact

Extended portions of the race will take place along:

West Pine Street
Hall Avenue
Concart Street
21st Avenue
The Longleaf Trace
Service Road at The University of Southern Mississippi
Pearl Street
Montague Boulevard
Front Street
Residents and businesses in these areas should anticipate intermittent access delays during race hours.

 

Downtown Access

If you are planning to visit downtown businesses, limited access will be restored throughout the morning:

Main Street is expected to reopen by approximately 8:00 a.m.
West Pine Street is expected to reopen by approximately 10:00 a.m.
 

Alternate routes into downtown prior to reopening include:

Highway 42 Bypass (from Highway 49 to Main Street)
Highway 42 → Main Street, Mobile Street, Bay Street
River Avenue → Buschman Street → Mobile Street
Broadway Drive → West Pine Street → Eastside Avenue or J.C. Killingsworth Drive
Hardy Street → use roundabout → cross route at 2nd Avenue
 

Using the Overpass During Race

The Hall Avenue West overpass will remain open throughout the event.
Motorists traveling westbound may detour via Bay Street into downtown.
Southbound traffic may utilize James Street.
Edwards Street will remain accessible for travel toward William Carey University, Highway 49, or back toward Broadway Drive and West Pine Street.
Motorists are strongly encouraged to plan ahead, allow extra travel time, and use alternate routes when possible.
