Morning Of The Race

Please be at the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum (213 N Talbot Street) no later than 7:15am, so that you can be sure to be on the buses! We are allowing for morning of Packet Pickup this year.

WE WILL HAVE MORNING CLOTHES BAGS available for you to bring some gear down to the start line. We are not planning on hanging around at the start line for too long, so don’t dress too warm. We will have sharpies to write your bib number on your bag, for easier identification at the finish line.

Restrooms will be available at the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum, inside the Steamboat Building. There will also be porto-jons at the Start Line for use.

Staying at the Wylder Hotel of Tilghman Island? Be sure to pick up your packet on Friday evening at our first packet pickup. IF you have your bib already, you may start from the Wylder hotel. We will have shuttles that will bring you back to the Start area afterwards.

IF you are being dropped off at the Wylder, please have your person temporarily park over at the Tilghman Island Elementary School. DO NOT PARK AT OUR START VENUE!!! THEY ARE AT CAPACITY FOR A WEDDING. If someone drops you off, they will be guided to park over at the school. YOU MAY NOT LEAVE A CAR AT THE WYLDER HOTEL.

Course

The course is a STRAIGHT course, with one turn from the Wylder Hotel on to MD Route 33 and one turn at the finish to get you back in to the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum. Beyond that, no need to worry about anything else.

The run is against the flow of traffic, on a very wide shoulder of the road. There will be traffic cones on the shoulder of the road, every 1/10th of a mile, for the entire, course, letting motorists (and cyclists) know that they are still on the race course. We ask that you stay to the left of the cone when facing an oncoming vehicle or biker. Please do not run in the roadway!

AIDE STATIONS are about every 1.5 miles on the course. They are on the shoulder of the road for easy access and will have Water, Gatorade, and alternating stations with gels.  There will be a PORTO-JOHN at Mile 4 and Mile 8 of the course for use.

Spectators are encouraged to come out on the course and cheer your runners on!! Please park on the opposite shoulder and cheer your hearts out!!! Straight runs are harder than you think, so get out there and cheer some people on!!

Our friends at the Talbot County Sheriff’s Office will be on course to help us out and make sure that we are all safe. You have the right-of-way at all intersections, but that doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t be safe. Keep an eye out for cars coming up to the intersections and always be safe!!

We will have a FOUR (4) hour time limit on the course

Finish

Congratulations!!!! You are finished!!! So what now? Stick around and cheer on your other runners! Grab your morning clothes bag (or grab some clothes from the car) and get changed inside the Steamboat building (sorry, no showers on site).
