Growth and Community Impact
The Holland Haven Marathon, established in 2014, has experienced significant growth, starting with around 400 runners and reaching over 1,200 in 2019, contributing nearly $500,000 to the local economy that year. Despite the challenges posed by the 2020 pandemic, our event adapted by limiting participation to 700 runners while ensuring safety through collaboration with health authorities. The race regained momentum in 2021 and 2022 by being recognized as a Road Runners Club of America Championship event. Celebrating our 10th anniversary in 2023, we sold out all races, providing an excellent experience for participants that continued into 2024. The event has had a positive impact in the community by sending kids to summer camp, offering free race entries to veterans, and raising funds for shelter animals.
