Mike Olivieri spent most of his life growing up in Homer Glen. He attended Goodings Grove Elementary School, Homer Jr. High, and Lockport High School before attending Southern Illinois University and later joining the United States Army. His life was filled with a loving family and close friends who shared his affinity for music and laughter. He will always be remembered for his quick wit, keen sense of humor and above all – a big heart.

Established in 2004, the Homer Glen Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting the acquisition and improvement of public parks, trails, and open spaces. The Homer Glen Foundation partners with local government agencies and local non-profit youth and community organizations to complete capital improvement projects. Incorporated as the Homer Glen Community & Nature Center and operating under the business name of Homer Glen Foundation, the organization is a 501 (c)(3) tax-exempt non-profit corporation. Donations to the Homer Glen Foundation are tax-deductible as provided by law. The organization is registered with the IL Secretary of State, IL Attorney General and the IRS.

The Homer Glen Foundation was selected as a recipient of the Homer Glen Community & Nature Award in 2012 and 2013 for our efforts with the Mike Hike and support of the Homer Glen Heroes Trail. We wish to thank all the sponsors, participants, and volunteers who have made the Mike Hike a continued success!
