Thank you all for your patience.  On behalf of the LPHM committee and SRRC Board of Directors, I am very sad to announce that we have officially canceled the 56th running of the LPHM.  Please understand, during this unprecedented time, our decision and plan is in the best interest of all participants.  Below we will outline our plan of action

To all participants who have paid for registration for 2020 or were deferred for 2019 and registered for 2020, you will be receiving a partial refund of $35.  This will be refunded via RunSignUp.  Please give us a little time to get the refunds issued.  We have to fund the account from which they will be coming.

If you have already deferred for 2020, then your deferment will be valid for 2021.  If you were a member of the 2019 Triple Crown with free entry into the race, your 2020 Triple Crown entry will be valid for 2021.

All participants, regardless if paid, deferred, pacers, comped, TCC, or other, will have the option to participate virtually to earn the medal.  There will be no shirts or other swag.

Excess proceeds will be going to two charities: HSHS Mission Outreach and HSHS St. John’s Children’s Hospital NICU.

Again, we thank you for being patient as we worked though this unique situation.  While our plan doesn’t replace the race, we feel it is the best option given the circumstances.

We hope you can join us for 2021.  It will be a countdown to fun, 4/3/21, and we already have a lot of great ideas in the works.

Dave

ALPHM Cancellation FAQs

Can the 13.1 mi be completed before April 1? Yes, we will accept verification for dates as early as March 1, 2020; however, medals will not be distributed before April 4.

Does verification have to be for exactly 13.1 miles? No, 13.1 mi is the minimum distance for which verification needed. Longer distances are fine.

Can I decline my $35 refund and have SRRC use the funds to support designated charities instead? Yes (and thank you!), but this is not at all expected. If you wish to decline your refund, please notify SRRC by Friday, March 20th. Otherwise, refunds will be processed after March 20th. Please be patient when awaiting your refund as we will need to work closely with Run Signup to get them processed.

Can HalfWits host a 13.1 mi group run for everyone on April 4? Sorry, no. The race was canceled to accommodate county health restrictions. We will not have police support, course marshals or medical support to manage a makeshift race & cannot take this safety risk. SRRC will host its annual HalfWits breakfast for SRRC members on April 4 at Cafe Moxo (if health & safety restrictions permit) please join us there instead! Details TBA.

Can SRRC members run 13.1 miles during a Saturday HalfWits training run? Of course! Even if the assigned HalfWits Route is less than 13.1, you are welcome to run the entire ALPHM course on your own (or with friends!) if you choose.

Does the ALPHM still count for SRRC’s Point & Participation Series? Participation Series points will be awarded. However, since points are awarded based on head-to-head competition, this race will be omitted from the Point Series in 2020.

Can I still defer my ALPHM registration to next year? Unfortunately, no. Once the race was canceled, the option to defer was no longer valid.

Can new participants register for the virtual race? No, registration closed when the race was canceled. The virtual option is available only to registered participants affected by the cancellation.

Description

We regret to inform you the LPHM is officially canceled. To comply with the County and State restrictions resulting from the COVID 19 pandemic, we must cancel the race. The SRRC board and LPHM race committee are working diligently to make the best of this situation. Please stay tuned to our Facebook page and email blast for more information within the next few days.

Join us on the first Saturday of April as runners from many states and countries take in Abraham Lincoln sites during this scenic half marathon. This USATF certified course will immerse you in Lincoln history unlike any other race!

The race starts and finishes at the Old State Capitol where Lincoln gave his famous House Divided speech.  Just across the plaza from the Capitol, within the first quarter mile of the race, is the Lincoln-Herndon Law Offices.  This is the only building still standing where Lincoln practiced law during in his 25-year career.  Not even a mile into the race, runners go back in time for two blocks, passing by the only home Abraham Lincoln ever owned.  During mile nine, runners enter Oak Ridge cemetery and are able to view Lincoln's final resting place.  Mile 10 takes runners through the local city park named after the 16th president.  During the final mile of the race, runners will pass by historic Union Train station directly adjacent to the Abraham Lincoln Museum and Library, which is just one block from the finish line.

So much history in just 13.1 miles!  Whether you are interested Lincoln history or not, we promise this race is well worth it!
