Virginia BBQ: Redbird Run 5K Walk/Run

Registration and Packet Pickup 

Race starts at 8:00 am. The packet pick-up/registration will start at 7:00 am with the table at the Virginia High School entrance. Online registration will be closed at this time. Parking is in the Virginia School lots or parking lot or near the ball diamonds.

General Information

Redbird Run is a fun 5K run and walk hosted during the Virginia, IL BBQ. The Virginia BBQ is a small town festival with the support of a dashing community. To go along with our race, Virginia BBQ will have a pageant, vendors, parade, carnival rides, and tons of entertainment from June 6-8. We will also be holding a virtual 5K for our Runners away from the BBQ.

The Virginia Cross Country Team will be hosting this exciting event. The Virginia Cross Country Team consists of fifth - eighth graders from both Virgina and Triopia schools. From August to October, the athletes participate in sixteen meets around the central area. Last year, we had two athletes (one male, one female) compete in the State Meet in Normal, IL. Our other athletes made huge improvements by dropping time and hitting personal bests. By the end of the season, we had six letter winners on our team. 

The money raised from the event will go toward celebrating student success during and after the season, new uniforms, and new workout equipment.

In Person Race Information

Race will begin and end near Virginia School. During the race, you will go by the Virginia BBQ Square, Cass County Fair Grounds, Rexroat Prairie, Virginia Park, and view the wonderful city of Virginia.  

Virtual Race Information

During registration you will be asked if you will compete for the Redbird Run 5K Virtual. This will allow you to still register, support Virginia Cross Country, get the amazing t-shirt, and run wherever you are! All you need to do is:

1. Register online by the deadline
2. Run 3.1 miles anytime during the week leading up to Redbird Run (6/1/25 - 6/7/25) wherever you want
3. Submit your run time by screenshot or a picture of your run by any tracking system you use to xcvirginiarun@gmail.com by midnight of the 7th (i.e. Strava, Garmin, RunKeeper, etc.) - Submission of time and name are only necessary for overall winner.
