In response to the ongoing public health concerns brought on by the coronavirus pandemic, our Committee has made the difficult decision to cancel this year's event. Please know this decision did not come lightly. We realize the impact that this event has on our community, as we bring together walkers, runners, and cyclists from all over the country. While we'd hoped to continue this 17 year tradition, the health and safety of our participants, volunteers, and community remains our highest priority.
By making this decision in a timely manner, we hope to give our participants the opportunity to rearrange any travel plans associated with this race while also honoring the importance of health in our communities.
Just as you are, we are disappointed that this year's event will not take place, but we look forward to welcoming you again next August!

Going the Distance for Healthy Living
Tour de La Porte is a cycling, running and walking event to benefit youth and healthy living programs through the La Porte County Family YMCA. 100% of the proceeds raised are used to provide direct support to eligible La Porte County residents in need of financial assistance towards such programs. At the Y, we don’t turn anyone away due to the inability to pay.
We encourage family participation - when you sign up you'll notice adjusted pricing or children.
In an effort to help maintain safe distancing for the running events we will be recording starting times for each participant and leaving the starting lines for each race open for 15 minutes. Participants in the Half Marathon may begin their run anytime between 6:30AM-6:45AM CDT. Participants in the 5K Run will be able to begin their race anytime between 7:30AM-7:45AM CDT. Runners official race times will begin when they cross the starting line for either event.
Participants will receive a text message and/or email with their official times as they finish their run.
In order to help insure the safety of our participants we will have minimal post race refreshments and we will not be hosting an awards ceremony after the run. Official overall and age group awards will be posted on-line as soon as the last participant for each event has finished. Approximately 10AM for the Half Marathon, 9AM for the 5K. Award winners can pick up their awards at the race site until 11AM on race day, or at the LaPorte Family YMCA any time after that.
Refer 1 or more participants and get a refund of up to $1.00. The more friends you invite to join you, the higher your refund!
Additional event information can be found at http://www.tourdelaporte.org.
All running, walking and cycling Tour de La Porte events will be held rain or shine!
For the safety of all participants and volunteers, the race will either have a delayed start or, depending on the intensity of the weather, be cancelled if lightning is present in the area. The Event Management Staff, in coordination with the Fire Chief, will determine whether the event needs to be delayed or cancelled.
We will announce on the home page of website and our Facebook page if there is the need for a delay or cancellation. We will also make every effort to text all participants and volunteers. As there are multiple events on multiple days, make sure to check back often for updated information about the Tour de La Porte. No refunds are available for the Tour de La Porte.
