Description
Picture this... you're working from home and are just about to hit your lunch break when you see a small group of people passing by on the sidewalk wearing decked out holiday gear and Santa hats. You notice this group because they're all quite cheerful and have a piece of paper pinned onto their tinsel covered outfits on this warm California December day.
You think what's going on?! Trying not to be the nosy neighbor, you notice that on the paper there is a Santa in board shorts holding a surf board and the words Santa Stroll just on top of their running number. You google "Santa Stroll" and automatically see the same Santa in board shorts with a surf board. You learn that last year, an awesome South Bay non-profit organization, Mychal's Learning Place, was trying to break the world record for the most Santa's in one place. And automatically, you think how cool would this be!!! "I want in" is what you say out loud...
Mychal's Learning Place is bringing you Santa Stroll Reimagined this year and are happy to announce that we are still on our quest to beating the world record for the most Santa's in one place.
Our plan is to take this year, 2020, as our official practice one for 2021, when we can hopefully gather as a huge group in one of our glorious California beaches all in our decked out Santa Suits.
Santa Stroll Reimagined is our event "reimagined" to keep all of our Santa's socially distanced and safe! There are a few different levels for you to register. Dasher, Dancer or Prancer. Put together a team, become a fundraiser and have people support you as you do your 5k or you can support our Founder as he will be putting 100 miles during the 12 event.
Please know that all monies raised will go directly to supporting all of Mychal's family of programs. Thank you for supporting Mychals and Happy Strolling.

Mychal's Learning Place
Mychal's opened its doors in 2002 by the current executive director, who was the parent of Mychal, who had a developmental disability. During Mychal's life, he struggled to find resources and services to support her needs as well as her zest for life. When she died, he decided to create those resources for other parents of children with developmental disabilities.
Today, Mychal's is committed to fulfilling the needs of the whole community and providing an accessible place for children, adults, and families to call home. Operating from two locations - a primary site in Hawthorne as well as an additional site in Culver City - Mychal's Learning Place recognizes that by challenging our children to succeed and having high expectations as they reach adulthood, we are enabling them to live independent, fulfilled, and productive lives. We emphasize interactive and inclusive environments; learning activities that will transfer to life-long independent living skills, job skills necessary for gainful employment, self-respect and knowledge of individual strengths and empowerment through education.
Over the years, Mychal's has sought ways in which our programs and services can be self-sustaining while supporting our mission of providing opportunities to further independence. From that idea came two social enterprise models, Mykie's Café and Bakery and Mychal's Prints. Both enterprises allow our participants job training and opportunities for gainful employment. Mykie's Café and Bakery teaches participants how to work as a team in a commercial kitchen and out in a community. Mychal's Prints teaches participants how to work with printing machinery and photoshop software.
