The 7th Annual Run for the Ring 5K Run/Walk and Kids Fun Run will bring together Barbara Davis Center patients, loyal supporters, and running enthusiasts to run for the brass ring – the cure for type 1 diabetes. All proceeds from this run/walk will support the efforts and programs of The Guild of the Children’s Diabetes Foundation, whose mission is to fund research, promote diabetes awareness and education, assist families in need, provide continuing education scholarships and sponsor social activities for children and their families.
Run for the Ring will feature a DJ to get the morning going, pre-race warm-up, bounce houses, water slides, kids scavenger hunt, games, Kids Zone DJ, foam party at the finish line, free type 1 diabetes risk screenings, and more.
5K & Fun Run Registration includes breakfast bites, timing chip (5K only), race bib, awards ceremony, and Run for the Ring performance t-shirt. Sleep-In Registration includes Run for the Ring performance t-shirt, which will be mailed to registrant. Must register before July 15, 2021 to guarantee t-shirt.
Those with type 1 diabetes will have the option of receiving a special t-shirt! Please indicate whether or not you would like your special shirt at registration.
Every participant can decorate a back bib that says RUNNING FOR MY “1” to honor their type 1 loved one.
Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times. Please bring another adult to watch your children while you are running.

How Does It Work? Create a team or register as an individual and let the summer fun begin! Enjoy being outdoors while helping raise funds for clinical care and patient programs at the BDC. Choose a time and location - a local park, a close trail or a neighborhood pathway. Rally your friends to donate to your page or join your fundraising team!
When? Where? Sign up now and fundraise through August 1! We encourage you to run, walk, or hunt when it is convenient for you prior to and on the race day.
Anywhere! Whether you choose your living-room, backyard, your neighborhood or neighborhood parks, or even the trail by your house or your favorite hiking trails, the course is up to you. With the virtual Run For The Ring 5K and 1 Mile, being a type 1 hero can happen wherever suites you best!

The Barbara Davis Center for Diabetes specializes in type 1 diabetes research and care for children and adults. Clinicians, clinical researchers, and basic biomedical scientists collaborate at the BDC to find the most effective treatment, prevention, and cure for type 1 diabetes. The BDC was founded by Marvin and Barbara Davis in 1978 and is currently one of the largest diabetes institutes in the world.
The Center provides state-of-the-art diabetes care to over 7,500 children and adults with diabetes as well as provides inpatient care to patients with any type of diabetes who are seen at the Children’s Hospital Colorado. Center clinical faculty members teach medical, physician assistant, nursing, and dental students on campus. Residents and endocrinology fellows receive critical training at the leading edge of diabetes clinical care and research.
The Children’s Diabetes Foundation was established by Barbara and Marvin Davis in 1977 in Denver, Colorado. The Foundation’s mission is to raise funds to support the Barbara Davis Center for Diabetes, where thousands of patients of all ages from all over the world receive the finest diabetes care available.
The Guild is the volunteer auxiliary membership group of the Children’s Diabetes Foundation. Guild Members symbolize the spirit of pulling together, accomplishing great things individually and as a team. With its 300 dedicated members, The Guild’s mission is to raise funds for research, promote diabetes awareness and education, assist families in need, provide continuing education scholarships, and sponsor social activities for children and their families. Since inception in 1979, The Guild has contributed more than $2 million to the Barbara Davis Center.
