Welcome to the MPower Youth Sports Kids 5K and Fun Run, sponsored by Farmington Recreation!
This is the only kids-only race in the area and we are excited to offer this opportunity for kids to get out and run with other kids - IN PERSON!! We are taking COVID very seriously. At this time, we believe that we can run all of our age groups together safely in one big race. We do reserve the right to split into two different 5Ks if deemed necessary. If that happens, your race start time may fluctuate by up to 30 minutes. Thank you for your understanding!
9:00-9:15 | Fun Run Runner check-in
9:30 | Fun Run (1.5 miles) - open to boys and girls ages 6-14.
9:30-10:00 | 5K Runner check-in
10:15 | 5K (3.1 miles) - open to boys and girls ages 6-14.
11:15 | 5K Awards Ceremony
We are taking COVID very seriously. At this time, we believe that all of our age groups can run together safely in one big race. We do reserve the right to incorporate wave starts and/or split into two different 5Ks if deemed necessary closer to race day. If that happens, your race start time may fluctuate by up to 30 minutes. Thank you for your understanding!
5K (3.1-miles): Open to boys and girls ages 6-14, the 5K is 2 loops around the race course with an exciting finish on the track! Trophies will be awarded to the Top-3 male and female finishers in each age group: 6-7, 8-9, 10-11, 12-14.
Fun Run (1.5 miles): This run is a great option for anyone who wants to experience race day, but may not feel quite ready for the full 5K. This race is open to boys and girls ages 5-14
Each race may have 2-3 wave starts if deemed necessary to minimize course congestion. This race will be chip timed, so finishing times and places will depend on starting time.
Local high school runners will be on hand to serve as mentor runners for our races. These volunteers with run with the kids, keeping them company and encouraging them throughout the race.
All runners will receive an MPower bag, finisher's medal, bottle of water and individually wrapped snacks.
This is an excellent spectator course with multiple opportunities to see and cheer for runners throughout the race. There is plenty of room for everyone to spread out across the Farmington High School Campus.
All races will be timed using professional chip timing. Results will be available online at the conclusion of the race. Your time won't start until you cross the starting line, so don't worry if you are in wave 2 or 3 of your race. Your time will be accurate!
We will run this race rain or or shine. If the forecast calls for thunderstorms or severe weather, we will either try to adjust the starting times to avoid the worst weather (even if that means running in the afternoon), or we will postpone the event to Saturday, November 20. Let's just hope for nice, sunny weather though!
