Breast cancer is the most common cancer among American women, with about 1 in 8 developing invasive breast cancer during their lifetime. The hard fact is that breast cancer is the second leading cause of cancer in women. However, there is hope in the more than 2.8 million breast cancer survivors in the United States today.
Rachael Frinder Gagnon is a fighter, being a survivor of breast cancer. She’s lived through some of the darkest, hardest days of her life to overcome enormous odds. Her husband and children bring her much joy and comfort.
In 2014, Rachael was diagnosed with stage IV breast cancer. Her life since has been chronicled in her blog, with heart wrenching personal entries. Many have been touched, and many more want to help. Rachael’s Run was born from her families desire to raise awareness of breast cancer, but more so to show Rachael the love and support she has, as well as, provide hope.
Rachael’s Run (a 5K run and walk) will be held on Saturday, May 30th, starting at 9 am from Blish Memorial Park in Marlborough, Connecticut. All registration funds will be used help Rachael's medical bills, as well as, the non-profit Little Pink Houses of Hope. Registration will begin at 8:00 am at Blish Memorial Park, with 5K runners and walkers at 9:00 am. Rachael's Run shirts will are offered to the first 100 registrants. Finisher medals will be provided. There will be no age group awards.
