The Fort Myers Track Club is happy to continue our partnership with the Edison and Ford Winter Estates to host our annual Thanksgiving Day Turkey Trot 5K Run/Walk. The 5K course will start and finish at Edison and Ford Winter Estates in Downtown Fort Myers. For years, this fun-filled family event has been an annual holiday tradition for locals and visitors alike, hosting visitors from over 40 states in 2022. This event and its beautiful location is a great way to kick-off the Thanksgiving Holiday. For those unable to travel to wonderful Fort Myers, we also provide the option to participate remotely.

REGISTRATION FEES* (No Race Day Registration):
Adult: $25 thru Nov. 15 | $30 Nov. 16-22
Youth: $15 thru Nov. 15 | $20 Nov. 16-22

Tot Trot: $5 (100yd dash) 7 & Under

The deadline to register online and be guaranteed a shirt size is November 9, 2023. Shirts will be available for the first 2400 registered participants. An inventory is set for all shirt sizes, once your shirt size is selected, there will be no exchange in size. Two things that will ensure you receive your shirt and size choice: (1) DO NO WAIT UNTIL THE LAST MINUTE TO REGISTER (2) PLAN TO ATTEND AN EARLY PACKET PICK-UP. Shirts are unisex sizing. There is a specific inventory of shirts, once this runs out, participants must choose another size.

Entry fee is discounted 20% for all Fort Myers Track Club Members.

Proceeds

Proceeds for the Annual Turkey Trot 5K will benefit the Edison and Ford Winter Estates Preservation Fund and the Fort Myers Track Club a 501 (c)(3) and its Youth Scholarship program.

Our Preservation Fund supports all aspects of our historic site. Your gift will ensure that our site will be preserved for generations to come, support innovative new programs and exhibits, allow us to conserve our celebrated collections, and much more!”

Every year the Fort Myers Track Club awards one or more deserving high school seniors a scholarship. It was named the FMTC Billy Shevach Scholarship in memory of Billy and the generosity of the Shevach family.

Teams

Participants may create or join a team. Teams are for social purposes and will not be scored, but we would love to see how large these groups get. Top 3 teams will be recognized at the start of the race and in race communications following the event.

Awards (In-Person 5K)

Awards will not be given out race day. An awards report will be published online and sent via email following the event and awards will be mailed to participants.

What You Will Receive

All participants registered prior to November 9, 2023 will receive a UNISEX race-specific cotton short-sleeve t-shirt. Shirt availability and sizing beyond this date will not be guaranteed. All participants are encouraged to register early and attend one of the three pre-race packet pick-up dates.

Tot Trotters also receive a cotton t-shirt and Thanksgiving activity pack.

HOW IT WORKS

Sign-up for the Fort Myers Turkey Trot 5K. Once you complete your registration, you will receive an email with a unique URL link to share with your friends and family.
When you have received 5 referrals and friends & family register by utilizing your unique URL, you will receive $20 credited back. An additional 5 referrals will result in a full refund of your individual registration.

Photo Uploads

Please share your Turkey Trot 5K experience with other participants. After participant results are uploaded, participants may return to their results page, upload and tag their photos. You can also tag and share your race photos on Instagram #FMTCTurkeyTrot.

Chip timing

This event will be timed with the ChronoTrack Bib Tag Technology. Your Timing Strip is attached to your race number. Do not remove this tag, fold or wrinkle your race number. Do not cover your race number (Tag) with a jacket. Simply pin all four corners to the front of your running shirt.

Strictly Prohibited

Unregistered participants, unauthorized vehicles, bicycles, roller blades, skates, skateboards, strollers and pets are strictly prohibited. Baby joggers are allowed but participants must start and remain at the back of the runners/walkers, thereby not interfering (passing, swerving between) with the other participants.

Heat Warning

Temperatures/humidity can be high in South Florida. Participants should drink plenty of fluid (non-alcoholic) for 48 hours prior to, during and upon finishing the race. Beware of heat-injury symptoms (dizziness, no sweating, nausea, cramps, redness, incoherent speech and thoughts). Seek immediate assistance if symptoms occur. Wear loose, light-colored clothing.
