The Charities
Edison and Ford Winter Estates
The non-profit corporation, the Thomas Edison & Henry Ford Estates, Inc. governs and manages both the Edison and Ford estates for the City of Fort Myers which has owned the Edison property since 1947 and the Ford property since 1988. These original historic properties consist of 18 acres containing botanical gardens and 19 buildings. The corporation is designated as a 501(3) non-profit charitable educational organization. The properties are listed on the National Historic Register, the Historic Florida Landmark, the National Chemical Landmark, and an original Save America’s Treasures of the National Trust for Historic Preservation.
Fort Myers Track Club
The Fort Myers Track Club was founded in 1978 to promote health and fitness through running. Membership is open to all ages and abilities. Our members range from speedy racers to recreational joggers and walkers. The FMTC is a non-profit 501 (c)(3) all-volunteer organization that supports many other local charities with technical support in producing high-quality races. The FMTC actively participates to help raise funds each year that go to local charities, including: FMTC Billy Shevach Scholarship, Tunnel to Towers, Fort Myers Police Department Fallen Officer Fund, Edison and Ford Winter Estates, the City of Fort Myers S.T.A.R.S. Program, Lee County Public Schools Strides for Education and Edison Festival of Light. The Track Club also provides opportunities for the local running community to participate in Fort Myers Track Club sponsored or hosted activities such as group runs, track nights, summer fun runs, our summer social and the S.H.A.R.C. (Summer Health Agility Running Camp) youth summer running.
