Join us for the 10th Annual Running of the Bulls (& Ghouls) to benefit USO Northwest Florida. This fun, family-friendly event is Pensacola's version of the annual Spanish festival, made famous by Ernest Hemingway. Participants will be chased by angry horned "Bulls," also known as the Pensacola Roller Gurlz.
The first cannon blast, set to go off at 9:00 am, runners will take to the roughly one-mile course. The "Bulls" will be released at the second cannon blast, wielding whiffle bats to chase down the participants. As is customary in Pamplona, runners are requested to wear all white with red kerchiefs or sashes (or choose to dress up in the spirit of Halloween.) Prizes will be awarded, so get creative!
Dress up the kids and visit the free "Little Ghouls Kid's Area." USO volunteers will be on hand with candy, activities, refreshments, and a costume contest.
Following the Running of the Bulls, the festival will continue in Phineas Phogg's in Seville Quarter with Latin entertainment, cash bar, and awards ceremony. Prizes will be awarded to the Best Senor, Best Senorita, Best Group, Ghouliest, Viva Pamplona Spirit Award, Best Horns and Scariest Bull. New this year are two special Krewe Awards for the Most Funds raised for the USO and the most registered participants. There will also be a VIP area with food, drinks, and special seating. Space is limited in the VIP area, and special registration is required
Packet pick-up and late registration will be Friday, October 1, from 4 to 7 pm, and Saturday, October 2, from 7 am to 8:30 am at Seville Quarter, 130 East Government Street, Pensacola 32502. Shirts and bandanas are not guaranteed to late registered participants. They will be distributed on a "first come" basis as supplies last. Sizes are only guaranteed to the first 500 registrants.
The Running of the Bulls is proud to partner with USO Northwest Florida. All proceeds benefit the USO as they continue to provide a home away from home for service members and their families. The USO expresses America's gratitude and commitment to service members and their families through programs focused on connection, strengthening, wellness and resiliency.
The mission of the USO is to strengthen America's military service members by keeping them connected to family, home, and country throughout their service to the nation. USO Northwest Florida has five centers and serves fifteen bases in our area. Last year, more than 220,000 military members were served in local USO centers and another 190,000 through outreach programs. None of this would be possible without fundraising events like Running of the Bulls.
