Veterans Day 5K Beach Race/1 Mile Walk

We invite you and your family to join us on November 9th, 2024, at 8:00 a.m. for a 5K Beach Race/ 1 Mile Walk to celebrate Veterans Day!! This race supports our veterans by raising awareness of suicide prevention and working towards ending it once and for all!

                           22 Veterans commit suicide a day!!!  

This double-digit number has shaped how Americans think about military veterans and their daily struggles. This staggering number has become a cry for advocates trying to call attention to suicide among veterans, especially U.S. combat-injured veterans who served in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Many injured U.S. combat-injured veterans struggle with physical disabilities, including loss of limbs and mental health issues such as Post-traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI). Fairways for Freedom® provides the opportunity for reintegration back into society through many holistic initiatives, including the game of golf.

This November 9th, Fairways for Freedom® is partnering with SSI VFW Post 4092 to host the Veterans Day 5K Beach Race/1 Mile Walk. Funds raised from this event will provide LOCAL U.S. combat-injured veterans the opportunity to heal.

REGISTRATION INFORMATION:

• $35 entry fee 5K Race (T-shirt, medal and swag bag)
• $35 entry fee 1 Mile walk (T-shirt, medal and swag bag)
• $20 for children under 12 (swag bag and participation ribbon) 
• 100% of entry fees and donations go directly to Fairways for Freedom®
• Registration received before October 21st, 2024 will be guaranteed a T-shirt.
• Registration will close Saturday, November 9th @ 7:45 am

• 7:45 am Welcome Message
• 7:55 am National Anthem
• 8:00 am Race Start Time
• 9:00 am Awards (categories announced soon)

PRE-REGISTRATION PACKET PICK UP:

• Friday, November 8th, 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm Saint Simons Island Pier, 100 Mallery St
• Saturday, November 9th, 7:00 am to 7:45 am Race location -registration table.

AFTER the RACE

We are excited to announce, following the race, a benefit will be held at Gnats Landing/ Redfern Village starting at 11:00 am ALL proceeds will be donated to Fairways for Freedom®.
