Description
IMPORTANT RACE NOTICE:
Due to the emergency conditions surrounding COVID-19, this event has been converted to an entirely "virtual race."  A virtual event means that everyone can participate by doing their walk or run on their own (following social distancing guidelines).  We will be mailing shirts to all registrants who signed up for the 6K or 1K runs before we converted to a virtual event.

The Defeat DIPG Superhero Sprint & 6K, presented by Headfirst Summer Camps, is a fun and meaningful way to contribute to the fight against childhood brain tumors.

Our race was originally scheduled for May 24. Since the event is now virtual, we will be kicking it off on May 17, which is DIPG Awareness Day and also the 5th anniversary of the passing of 6-year-old Michael Mosier (for whom our foundation is named). You may complete your walk, run, bike ride, or whatever activity you choose anytime between May 17 to May 31! Please remember to follow any applicable social distancing guidelines.

You have two registration options now:  (1) Virtual Runner With Shirt and (2) Virtual Runner Without Shirt.  You can view this year's awesome race t-shirt AT THIS LINK.

Please sign up by April 30 to ensure your shirts goes out in the early May mailing!  We will do our best to get all shirts ordered by April 30 mailed for delivery before May 17.  Shirts ordered after April 30 will go out as soon as possible.  Registrations with a shirt after May 14 will be mailed for delivery no later than the first week of June.

Brain tumors are the leading cause of childhood cancer death for children and adolescents under the age of 19.  And, DIPG (diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma) is the most lethal form of pediatric brain cancer.  There is now hope for progress in the battle against DIPG, and your participation can make an impact and help save these kids' lives!

All proceeds from the race will benefit the Michael Mosier Defeat DIPG Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to raising funds for research.  The Foundation was created in memory of Michael William Mosier, a six-year-old little boy from Bethesda, Maryland, who fought DIPG for 8.5 months before passing away from the disease on May 17, 2015.

Our highest priority is the safety and health of our supporters and community.  We are disappointed to not have the in-person event, but we are eager to see your pictures and videos of your virtual runs!

Please share your pictures and videos of your virtual runs in our DEFEAT DIPG VIRTUAL SUPERHERO 6K Facebook Event.  You can also post on any social media platform and tag Michael Mosier Defeat DIPG Foundation (@DefeatDIPG) and include the hashtags #DefeatDIPG and #Superhero6K.

Stay safe and healthy, and thank you for your support.
