Cancellation of 2020 & 2021 Pike's Peek 10K

New Date: 04/24/2022

When the COVID-19 pandemic began and we made the decision to cancel the race, we understood neither the pandemic's duration nor the impact that it would have on our community.  As we look ahead to 2021 and understand that we must regretfully cancel next year’s Pike’s Peek as well, we want to offer our supporters some options with regards to your 2020 entry fee.

We invite you to select one of the following options by Tuesday, December 15th:

1) Defer your entry to the 2022 Pike’s Peek 10K + receive a 15% discount off any MCRRC Membership.
2) Donate your fee to MCRRC
3) Receive a refund of your entry fee (please note the refund will not include online processing fees)

Here Are Your Options:

This option will defer your 2020 race entry to the 2022 Pike's Peek 10K on April 24, 2022 (date subject to change).  We will transfer your registration to the new event date once it is set, and look forward to having you join us.

Additionally, you are eligible for a 15% discount off of an MCRRC annual membership which will allow you to take advantage of club races, join training programs and receive other club member benefits.  The discount code will be e-mailed to you separately, by January 15th

Thank you for donating your registration fee to us!

In these difficult days, the club is using this time to re-invent itself and re-tool its systems, races and programs to prepare for the new normal of group running and competitive racing.  As races have ceased for the time being, so has the club’s income stream. We do not know how long it will be until our income returns to “normal” levels.  At the same time, investments are needed to allow the club to plan for the gradual return of in-person activity.

Your gift will help us prepare for the new face of racing and program planning. Our operating budget will now include new items such as: PPE and safety tools for the thousands of volunteers it takes to put on our events, handwashing stations, technology to facilitate events with virtual and in-person components, increased venue expenses due to longer start times, increased permit fees from local jurisdictions and new considerations for finish line refreshments and water stop processes.

MCRRC is a non-profit organization.  The income we receive from membership dues and race registration fees is used to fund some of our training programs and our low-key race series as well as to administer the club in a manner that benefits our members and the community.  Our community service efforts include funding port-a-johns along some of our popular running trails, providing equipment and staffing to youth running events at discounted rates and offering scholarships to promising high school runners.  Donations beyond the cost of membership are accepted and welcomed and will be used to continue our efforts to promote running as a healthy lifestyle choice in Montgomery County.  Donations are tax deductible (to the extent allowed by law).

We understand that times are hard.  We are happy to issue you a full refund of your registration fees.  Please note that we are unable to refund online service fees.

Refunds will be processed by December 31st and will take 3-5 business days to reflect on your credit card.

Pike’s Peek 10K UPDATE: We know that as many people are busy re-arranging their lives and habits, there are a lot of concerns and questions about what is still happening and what is not so we wanted to take a minute to let you know that as of now, the Pike’s Peek 10K, scheduled for Sunday, April 26 is STILL ON!  We have the deepest respect and appreciation for the bold steps taken by the Governor yesterday and we are very hopeful that these actions will enable our community to mitigate the spread of the coronavirus to the point that by late April, we may all be starting to see some things return to normal.  We will continue to work with local and state officials on our plans for the race and will of course defer to their judgement should it become necessary to change our plans.  As life slows down a little over the next few weeks, hopefully you can take the time to enjoy being outside and maybe get in a couple extra runs.  You’ll be even more ready to join us on the start line on April 26!
