Rivertown Races 2020 race date is now August 1, 2020

New Date: August 1, 2020

Good afternoon Rivertown Friends!

Thank you for the outpouring of support as we had to make the decision to change the date of the race due to these unforeseen circumstances. As we told you in the last email communication we have been working on a plan to best serve our athletes for 2020 and 2021.  As we mentioned previously, we are excited to have the opportunity to reschedule Rivertown Races to August 1, 2020 at Millennium Park. For those of you that want to continue to race with us in August, your registration has already been retained with the rescheduling of the race and there is no further action required.  Just show up on August 1 and run! For those of you with scheduling conflicts, we are happy to be able to offer you a few options, as detailed below. Keep reading to the end to learn how to take advantage of any of these options.

1. Defer your 2020 entry by April 24 to 2021.
2. Donate your entry by May 1. We will mail you a receipt noting your tax-deductible donation to Bridge Street Ministries, not only supporting and amazing ministry but also helping to sustain Rivertown Races for 2021.
3. Request a 50% refund by April 3.

How to activate one of these options:
1. Log in to your RunSignUp account
2. Click on your profile
3. On your profile page, you will see races under “Upcoming Events”
4. Click on your Rivertown Races registration
5. Here you will be able to manage your registration
6. Make your selection from that page:
- Defer to 2021 (by April 24)
- Donate your entry (by May 1)
- Partial refund (by April 3)
7. If you do nothing with your entry - it will automatically be donated.

While our official policy states that no refunds will be given, in this unprecedented time, we are pleased to be able to offer a 50% refund.  Why only 50%? Please understand that Rivertown Races is owned and operated by Bridge Street Ministries and this race is a critical springtime revenue stream that helps sustain our work with inner-city youth in the West Side of Grand Rapids.  (Find out more about our ministry at bsmgr.org).  With the rescheduling of this race, we are losing a significant source of sustaining revenue for our ministry this spring, which is putting us in a tough spot.  We are pleased to be able to offer a 50% refund as a show of goodwill and an expression of our Christian faith. However, even though the race is rescheduled, there are costs that we have already incurred that we need to try to recapture.

Please Note: If you choose to donate your registration, that donation goes directly to help sustain Bridge Street Ministries through this difficult time.

Also Please Note: We understand that many people are going through a difficult time right now, financially, emotionally, and spiritually.  If the current pandemic has put you in significant financial hardship and you genuinely need a larger refund, please email us directly and we can work something out.  Again, our hope is to best serve our athletes however possible.

For that handful of you that are signed up for TriMillennium and Rivertown Races, please reach out to us and we can work out a solution for you if any of the above options don't work.

Deadlines to remember:
- Defer by April 24 for 2021
- Donate your entry by May 1
- Partial refund by April 3

Thank you for your understanding as we manage our way through these unprecedented times. We appreciate your support of Rivertown Races, Bridge Street Ministries and our other charity partners to make this race and event sustainable for years to come. Thank you for understanding as we move forward and continue to plan for August 1. More information to come about race day soon.

Ryan & Andrew

We will transfer your registration to August 1, 2020 and look forward to having you join us. Thanks for your support of Rivertown Races!

We all understand that events are expensive, even when cancelled, and you want us to keep your registration fees to help cover our costs and support Bridge Street Ministries. We deeply appreciate your generosity and look forward to seeing you April 24, 2021.

Refer a Friend... Get a refund!

Racing is always more fun with friends.  So, we are pleased to offer refunds to participants that refer friends to join them at Rivertown Races.  After you register for Rivertown Races you will receive a referral link in your confirmation.  Get friends to come run with you and use your custom referral link to register and you could earn a refund on your race entry fee.

For 5k athletes, refer 5 friends and you will automatically receive a $20 refund.  And then you will get an additional $5 refund for each additional friend you recruit with your referral code.  So, recruit 7 or 8 friends and you could get your entire registration refunded!

10k runners, if you recruit just 4 additional runners you too can get $20 back, and then an additional $5 for each additional after that.

And for you half marathoners, get just 2 more folks to run with you, and you get the same deal.

Note: you can only be refunded up to your registration fee.  You don't get paid extra if you recruit more folks :)
