Description
Whether you are a seasoned runner or just looking for a fun way to experience our regional airport, Race on the Runway will deliver! This event is a collaboration between multiple organizations, and we are proud to offer a variety of races including the 1-mile, "Taxi-Trot" fun-run; the "Flight Deck" 5k, and the areas only 10k, "The Tarmac 10k." We are honored to help support Kids First, Inc. whose mission is to provide Help, Healing, and Hope to children in northeastern North Carolina who have been sexually or physically abused or neglected. Please know that 100% of the proceeds from this event will go directly to Kids First, Inc.
Runners and walkers' welcome! We recommend that strollers and dogs (leash required) start at the back. If you don't have a pup and want to walk one, let us know and the local animal shelter will provide a friendly dog that will certainly enjoy the experience with you!
The challenging courses are very unique, check out the maps! The airport will be active during the race so you will see planes as they are taking off and landing! The 10k circles the runway then goes out onto county property and navigates through the woods and ponds. Anticipate a mixture of terrain including asphalt, grass and dirt paths.
