Race-Week Setup Laborer - Friday Medium Priority

These volunteers are critical to the success of the race. There are multiple tasks that include moving and setting up equipment, running cables, erecting signage, hanging banners, setting up tables, chairs, and small tents. Responsibilities include moving objects of varying weights, driving vehicles short distances, setting up folding tables, setting up cones and course markers, hanging banners and signs, running data cables, moving equipment, etc.

Participant Check-In - Friday Medium Priority

Details

Participant check-in staff will greet participants, and hand them assigned running numbers (bib). Responsibilities would include welcoming participants and offering friendly interactions, reviewing participants' information that is printed on the bib for errors and omissions and directing participants to subsequent steps in the check-in process such as picking up giveaways, making corrections or switching races). Anyone available to work the entire shift is welcome, but we appreciate those who can only work part of the day, too.

Participant Giveaways - Saturday Medium Priority

Details

Participant Giveaway staff will help provide participant giveaways, such as T-shirts, to registered participants. Responsibilities may include confirming participant shirt sizes, answering race- related questions (basic race information will be provided for distribution) and preventing theft of participant giveaways.

Walk-Up Registration staff will greet new, unregistered participants and guide them - if
necessary - through the walk-up registration process. Responsibilities may include welcoming participants, queue line management, basic computer interaction, participant instruction. Those available for complete or partial shifts are welcome aboard.

Race Weekend Ambassadors will serve as the front-face of the Race on the Runway.
Responsibilities will include greeting participants with a warm welcome, assisting participants in finding solutions to any issues and providing basic race-weekend information.

Race Morning Start Line Setup - Saturday Medium Priority

Details

Start line setup consists of the final placement of race-related supplies in the start line area. Responsibilities may include posting signage, placing barricades, moving folding tables, moving cases of water, etc.

Course Guide - Saturday 10K / 1K - Saturday

Details

Race Course Guides serve an important role in that they make sure participants traverse the correct route on their way to the finish line. Course guides stand at key turns and complicated transitions throughout the racecourse and point participants in the correct direction. Responsibilities include yelling, pointing, and cheering. 7:00 a.m. EDT – 12:00 pm EDT

10K Water Stop Operation - Saturday

Details

The 5k and 10k runs have a total of 4 water stops on the courses which will need staffing. Water stop staff help open bottles of water, pour into cups and hand to runners as they pass during the race. Other responsibilities would include helping to keep the immediate area around the water stop clean of crushed cups and communicating with race officials in the event someone needed help along the course.

Finish Line Area Support Member and Operations - Saturday Medium Priority

Details

Finish Line Area Support Members will be on hand to provide real-time assistance in the setup of finish area equipment, re-supplying finish line areas, moving tables, chairs, etc. around the finish area and general light-labor.

Finish Line Operations includes readying the medals for distribution, helping to erect signage, cones, and barricades as well as helping participants with race weekend information. Responsibilities may include moving boxes of supplies, handing out medals to participants, and talking with participants.

10K Post-Race Refreshments - Saturday Medium Priority

Details

Those working in the post-race refreshment area of the will help unpack and setup runner
refreshments on tables before finishers start arriving at the finish line. Responsibilities may include moving boxes of supplies and working with a box cutter.
