Race Dates: Yellowjackets unite! Join us for our 2nd Annual QuadFox Virtual 5k from April 1st – May 2nd!
What is a virtual race?
A virtual race is one that provides participants with the opportunity to walk or run, anywhere at any pace! The only rules are that you must complete the distance (5K/3.1mi) all at once, anytime between April 1 – May 2nd AND record your results through the link provided at registration. Virtual races are a great way to stay connected with one another no matter how far apart we may be. We all may be in different places, but we can all run or walk many different versions of the same QuadFox Virtual 5K! Once you finish your race, you will submit your time and receive a finisher’s certificate. Finisher t-shirts will be mailed to the address provided starting the week of May 2nd. Details regarding t-shirt pick up (for select registration types only) will be distributed prior to the end of the race**!
**At this time, we are unable to offer t-shirts to Minors/Children of Faculty and Staff.
How far do I run?
For this race, you will need to complete 5 kilometers or 3.1 miles at one time. You can track your distance using several different options: a gps watch, your smartphone via an app (ie. MapMyRun, Runkeeper, Strava, etc.), or go to a known 5K course outside and follow the map! You can even use a treadmill if you'd prefer to stay indoors.
What do I do after I finish my race?
When the race period starts, you will be emailed instructions for how to submit your time. You can do that by either responding to the email with the correct format, or by using the website link provided. Be sure to share your results and race day photos with us on social media using the hashtag #QuadFoxVirtual5K and tag @WilsonCommonsUR!
Are there any prizes?
Everyone who finishes the QuadFox 5K and submits their time will receive a customized finisher's certificate in their email.
All undergraduate and graduate students, alumnus, and parents/family of current undergraduate students that finish and have input their completion times by the deadline are eligible to receive a t-shirt by mail (or pick up for select registrations).
New this year, the first 250 faculty/staff finishers are also eligible to receive a finisher’s t-shirt by mail or pick up. T-shirt distribution by mail will occur the week of May 2nd, those who select the pick-up option at check-out will receive additional information via e-mail prior to the conclusion of the race.
