Dear Runners and Walkers,
Last year, when we officially decided to postpone the race, it was our greatest hope that we would be able to return to an in-person event this summer. However, with the parameters for large-scale events still uncertain we have made the difficult decision to utilize a virtual format for this year’s race.
If you have ever joined us for the Jack Roth 5K Rock’N’Run, then you undoubtedly know it is truly a community-centered multi-generational event. We recognize how special race morning is for all who participate and although the race will certainly look and feel different this year, we are hoping that by incorporating some of the most popular and familiar elements of the race, including our shirts and our rock’n’roll playlist, you will all feel like you are a part of this year’s festivities even though we can’t be together.
We hope that wherever you may be on June 13, you will join us virtually in celebration of the 15th Annual Jack Roth 5K Rock’N’Run!

This year's event will be virtual due to the uncertainty surrounding the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. In support of Jack and the causes that were most important to him, we hope you will join us for this virtual run/walk. Sunday, June 13 will be the official kickoff to race week! You can run or walk your race wherever you are between June 13th and June 19th. Whether it is a walk or run through the beautiful streets of Bexley, a hike in one of your favorite spots, or setting up a track dash in your driveway for your kids, enjoy the time outside at your own pace and in your own time and be sure to tag us at #jackrothtogether.
All 5K participants will receive a swag bag with an official Jack Roth Run Homage t-shirt* and other goodies. Registrants can report their race results, as well as download the official Rock’N’Run playlist (coming soon), by utilizing RaceJoy (please click here for instructions on downloading and utilizing RaceJoy).
* There are limited supplies of the 2021 Jack Roth Run Homaget-shirt. Register EARLY to ensure that you get one. Once they're gone, they're gone!
The Rock’N’Run was originally established in 2006 to honor Jack Roth and his courageous battle against cancer and to benefit the Jack Roth Fund, which is dedicated to Jack’s spirit, passion, and ideals. The race combines those interests and ideals that were most important to Jack and provides an opportunity for family, friends, and local runners and walkers to come together to honor Jack, celebrate, and contribute to some of the things that were dearest to him. The Jack Roth Fund was created to support research and treatment for lung cancer at The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center - Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Richard J. Solove Research Institute (OSUCCC – James) and the Jack Roth Camp Netaim-Ramah Noam, a program in Israel to benefit children with special needs. To date, the Rock‘N’Run has raised more than $1,490,000 in support of the Jack Roth Fund.
The James 5K Race Series features three annual running events in central Ohio that will reach more than 4,000 participants, friends, and family members. Proceeds from these races benefit three different areas of cancer research, including lung, sarcoma, and head and neck cancers at The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center – Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Richard J. Solove Research Institute (OSUCCC – James). For more information, visit: go.osu.edu/James5k
When you register for the race and/or track dash, you will have the option to either have your event swag mailed to you or to pick up your materials in person prior to June 13. Packet pickup will be held on Friday, June 11 (3 PM - 6 PM) and Saturday, June 12 (9 AM - 12 PM) at Bexley High School (348 South Cassingham 43209) just inside the main gate to the track/football field. There is ample parking in the high school lot.
Please note: shipping is intended for those outside the Columbus area. Those in central Ohio should plan to make use of the early packet pickup so that the maximum funds can go to our great cause.
All 5K participants receive a swag bag with a one-of-a-kind, super soft, Jack Roth Run race shirt from HOMAGE* and other goodies. All kids participating in the track dash receive a custom medal.
