Special Announcement
Dear Runners and Walkers,
For 15 years we have welcomed runners and walkers, young children to adults, to the Central Bexley school campus to participate in what has truly become a cherished community event. What began as an idea by Jack’s daughter, Maren, as a way of honoring her father, has grown exponentially from a small, homegrown race to a widespread multi-generational event, with proceeds that have surpassed our highest expectations.
After losing our beloved Janice Roth, Jack’s wife and co-chair of this event, in October of 2019, it prompted us to think about the longevity of the race in her absence. After many heartfelt discussions, we made the difficult decision that 2020 would be our final year. Although the pandemic threw a wrench in our plans, we are thrilled to finally be able to have an in-person race in June and organize the perfect farewell celebration for an incredible 16-year run. While it is undoubtedly bittersweet, we continue to be in awe of what our amazing group of family, friends, dedicated volunteers, and supporters have accomplished and we will cherish these memories for a lifetime.
June 12th will certainly be a difficult day for us as we say goodbye to a very special community event. We hope you will join us as we celebrate the lives of Jack & Janice and the farewell year of The Jack Roth Run, Sunday, June 12th.
Sincerely,
Maren Roth Chuck Shenk Steve Marcus Alyssa Shenk

Description
Please join us for the “We Love You Still”—Jack Roth Farewell 5k Rock’N'Run/Walk
June 12th, 2022 @ 9:00 AM, Bexley, OH
Welcome to the 16th and final Jack Roth 5K Rock'N'Run/Walk! We have had 14 years of incredible 5k’s, marketplaces, track dashes, music, and more. While we are sad to say goodbye, we are very grateful for so many years of unwavering support. We look to our final year with one goal in mind, to honor Jack by making this our biggest and best year yet! Although Janice will only be with us in spirit, her passion for this event is irreplaceable and it is only fitting that she is honored posthumously as our 2022 Honorary Race Chair. We also look forward to welcoming back many of our former Honorary Race Chairs as well to help us kick off the morning with a bang!
The 5k run/walk will take participants through the beautiful neighborhood of Central Bexley with the start and finish at Cassingham Elementary. All of our favorite elements of race day will be returning along with some special mementos to commemorate our last hurrah! Following the 5k, we will celebrate with live music and dancing; enjoy the ever-popular Food, Fun, & Fitness Marketplace featuring complimentary food, great services, and kids activities; and cheer on all the kids participating in Max’s Track Dash as they run their hearts out in support of Sudden Unexplained Death in Childhood (SUDC).
The Jack Roth Fund was created to promote the vital research and treatment necessary to combat lung cancer, through The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center - Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Richard J. Solove Research Institute (OSUCCC –James) and the Jack Roth Camp Netaim-Ramah Noam, a program in Israel for children with special needs. Even though we were only able to race virtually in 2021, we had excellent community participation and a successful year, bringing our 15 year total to more than $1,580,000 in support of the Jack Roth Fund.
This year's event will be in person, with a virtual component for anyone that can’t join us on race day. All 5K registrants will receive a one-of-a-kind, super soft, commemorative farewell race shirt from HOMAGE and a bag of goodies. If you are a virtual 5K participant and would like to report your race results, please see the instructions by clicking here.
