Dog Jog 5K and Fun Run

Sun October 3, 2021 Columbus, OH 43215 US Directions RaceJoy Ready

CHA's 31st Annual Dog Jog will take place on Sunday, October 3, 2021, and we are excited to be back and in-person at Genoa Park in downtown Columbus! We are also excited to offer a virtual option for those who cannot participate on race day but would still like to contribute to the cause! As a participant, you have the option to sign up for either event option when you register.

Those who choose the in-person event on October 3 at Genoa Park will enjoy a scenic run/walk in downtown Columbus and be able to visit a variety of vendor booths and participate in games and other activities. Those who choose to participate in the event virtually will not be officially timed for the race or have access to in-person event festivities, but can take part in the event between October 3rd and October 10th by running or walking along their favorite neighborhood routes, on their local bike paths, or wherever running and walking is safely permitted.

Keep reading below for further information on this year's race. Thanks so much for your support!

Make a difference to the animals in your community by joining us for the 31st Annual Dog Jog 5K and Fun Run, a fundraising event that supports CHA Animal Shelter.

To participate in this event, simply register to either complete a 5K Run/Walk or a 1-Mile Run/Walk virtually or onsite at Genoa Park. It is always a great experience to enjoy a fun-filled morning of exercise with your ENTIRE family, including your dog! For those who are unable to join us for the in-person event on October 3 at Genoa Park, there is a virtual option, where participants can submit results anytime between October 3 and October 10! For more information on the virtual race, see our section titled "How Does A Virtual Race Work?" below.

You don't have to run or walk or attend the event to make a difference at our shelter - you can always become a fundraiser and make your voice heard in your community:

  • To become a fundraiser, just go to and click "Fundraiser Sign-up".
  • Once you have joined, simply set up a page to raise money for the animals waiting for homes at CHA Animal Shelter and share the link with others through text, email, or social media.
  • You can make the page in memory of a lost pet or even make a goofy page for an energetic pet that needs to burn some energy on the run. Either way, it's for a great cause!
  • You can also consider joining a CHA team that's already set up and raise money OR create your own with family, friends, or co-workers!

This year we are offering special CHA merchandise to our fundraisers based on the donations you are able to collect! Check out the different levels below. Photos of the fundraiser incentives can be found on our website at

  • $50 - 2 In-Shelter Cage Sponsorships
  • $100 - CHA Bumper Sticker
  • $200 - Collapsible Cat/Dog Bowl
  • $400 - Baseball Cap
  • $800 - Shatter-resistant Water Bottle & Cooling Towl
  • $1500 - Roll-up Blanket

Special prizes in addition to the fundraising incentives above will be awarded to the TOP 3 fundraisers!
