OK Runner & Two Six Two Okie presents the inaugural Draper Immortal.
Welcome to the first multi-distanced, paved ultra-adventure, in Oklahoma City!
The Draper Immortal is a running race located on the Maps 3 paved trail system around Lake Stanley Draper. The course has moderate hills and consists of four distances: 5K, 10K, 25K, and 50K. The timed courses will have staggered starting times to ensure social distancing and spacing of runners. Participants will receive a Draper Immortal quarter zip, complimentary digital photos, and ultra cool swag. Finisher's will receive a most unique, distance-specific finisher's medal. There is a 9 hour time limit for the 50K. We will have an area at the start/finish for 50k drop bags.
All races start/finish at the Lake Draper Marina. Both The 5K & 10K are out and back routes.
The 25K is a clockwise loop around the lake, with an out/back section at Point 10. The 50k will complete the same loop as the 25k, cross the start/finish timing mat, and return to the course for the second loop. The 50k drop bag area will be at this location, as well as a dedicated aid station for the 50k.
Many of our aid station volunteers are runners, who are well versed in distances from 5k to ultra-marathons. They understand the importance of each athlete having enough hydration, nutrition, and support, to complete the race. There are four fully stocked aid stations on the course (not including the start/finish). Aid stations are approximately 3 miles apart, and provide both water, and electrolyte jugs. We will also have bottled water, various gels, packaged snacks, hand sanitizer, and trashcans. Some of our aid station volunteers are quite clever, and may surprise you with some creative beverages and food. Even though we are providing bottled water, we encourage 25k/50k participants to bring hydration devices, and/or race vests.
50k - Each athlete will pass 8 aid stations + the drop/bag area aid station, just inside the start/finish.
25k - Each athlete will pass 4 aid stations.
10k - Each athlete will pass one aid station twice.
5k - There will be an aid station at the finish.
Each Race will have a cap on available entries.
COMPLIMENTARY DIGITAL PHOTOS
What better way to capture a moment, than with a photograph? KMCK PICS will pay our athletes a visit on the course. Online registration means COMPLIMENTARY digital photos, made available in the days following the race.
5K & 10K- Races Start at 07:30 AM. Both races go south on the paved trail and are out and back. There will be a water stop for the 10k.
25K - Race starts at 07:00 AM. You will run 1 loop around the lake. The race heads north on the trail out of the marina and proceeds clockwise around the lake. Approximately 3 miles into the race you will do a short out and back on Point 10 Road, then get back on the trail and continue around the lake. Fully stocked aid stations are approximately every three miles, with both bottled water & water in jugs, NUUN, Gatorade Endurance, and various snacks (ie cookies, figs, pretzels, etc).
50K - Race starts at 7:00 AM. Athletes will run the same route as the 25k, and cross the start/finish mat before going back out for the second loop.
***ALL 50K runners will be allowed to have a drop bag at the start/finish area. We WILL have a designated area for you. Please mark your name and bib number onto your drop bag. We will have tape and one of our volunteers can assist you in the drop bag area. ********YOU WILL NEED TO CROSS THE FINISH LINE FIRST TO FINISH YOUR FIRST LOOP, THEN PROCEED TO YOUR DROP BAG AREA
Packet Pick Up will begin Wednesday October 20th, through Saturday, October 23rd, at the OK Runner OKC location (708 N Broadway) during normal business hours. You can also register in person those days if spots are available. Unfortunately, you will not be guaranteed a quarter zip, race swag, or race medal, but we will adjust the race entry fee accordingly. We try and meet our requirements for registration deadline, so we can adequately provide time for our vendors to produce finisher medals and swag.
Ultra distance..... means PARTY......which means post-race celebrations. For those running the 25K & 50K, your entry fee will include a post-race beer and chili party ticket. Enjoy some of our local breweries favorite beers, and homemade chili. It will be time to celebrate your accomplishment!
Tickets will be made available for those running the 5K & 10K for $5.00 during online registration.
ONLY PARTICIPANTS WILL BE ELIGIBLE FOR THE POST-RACE FESTIVITIES.
If you have any questions about this race, click the button below.
Q - Can I register on race day?
A - No, there is a registration deadline, so we can adequately provide time for our vendors to produce finisher medals and swag.
Q - Can I pick up my packet on race morning?
A - We provide four-days for packet pickup. However, we understand some of our athletes will be driving from various parts of the state, race morning. We will have your packet at our booth before the race.
Q - Where will I find my race results?
A - OK Runner will provide a link after the race.
Q - Are there restrooms?
A - We will have multiple "Porta-John's" in the Marina.
Q - Where do I park?
A -Parking is in the Marina, located at 8301 SE 104th St. Parking can be at a premium, and we recommend carpooling, if at all possible.
Q - What is the weather like?
A - The historical temperature for this date and area is a high of 73 degrees, and low of 49 degrees. We will run rain/shine. In the event of arduous precipitation or deteriorating conditions, the race may be delayed or cancelled.
Q - Is the course hilly?
A - The 25k/50k has moderate hills, on both the north, and east side of the lake. We recommend walking hills to those new to ultra distances. This technique gives your legs a bit of rest, and assists with strength and endurance in later portions of the race.
Q - I have never run a 50k. What should I expect?
A - If you can run a marathon, you can run a 50k. We recommend using a proven marathon training plan.
Q - Is the Draper Immortal course closed to just the participants?
A - No, even though we have a permit for this race, the paved Maps-3 Trail is open to the public. We will share this course with cyclists, walkers, fur babies, and other runners.
