Description

Celebrate American Independence this year by running the inaugural Spirit of America Virtual 5k, 10k or 1/2 Marathon.  We may not be able to run together in person yet, but that doesn't mean we can't celebrate our Spirit of America.  Simply choose your distance, post your time and earn the coolest, most patriotic July 4th medal ever.

How will i receive my t-shirt, medal and bib

The Spirit of America race is open to anyone, anywhere and we are happy to ship you your SWAG.   However, if you live in north eastern Ohio (Lake County) or western Pennsylvania (Allegheny County or surrounding), you can pick your items up in person at your local Second Sole Running store in Mentor, Ohio or Pro Bike + Run shops in the Pittsburgh region as soon as they are available.  

We anticipate SWAG being available the week prior to July 4th weekend.

What do i need to do for a virtual race? How does it work?
  1. REGISTER
    1. Sign up for the race you want to participate in, here on the RunSignUp registration page.
  2. SWAG
    1. You will receive an email before the start of the virtual event letting you know when the SWAG (Stuff We All Get) will be mailed to you, or if you are local to our company (Lake County, Ohio or Allegheny County Pennsylvania) when you can pick it up.
  3. RUN YOUR RACE
    1. The next step is to run the race you signed up for between the dates that are specified in the instructions or on the web site.  Since this is a "Virtual" event, you can run wherever and whenever you want.  Unless there are explicit instructions stating otherwise, you can run the distance all at once, or break it into multiple runs on different days.  Remember, Virtual = Flexible.
  4. POST RESULTS
    1. After completing your "Race", please post your results to this web site, using the Results link at the top of the page.  There are no awards for our virtual races, as everything is on the honor system when posting race results.
  5. PRINT YOUR FINISHERS CERTIFICATE
    1. After you run your race, be sure to print your custom finishers certificate.   Simply click on your name in the results page after they are posted and click the link below your bib number in the upper right hand corner.  See photo below.  

  • UPLOAD PHOTOS ONTO YOUR SOCIAL MEDIA AND SHARE
    1. After completing your race, posting your results and printing your finishers certificate, feel free to post to our Facebook page a picture of yourself with your bib on, your running partners, your GPS watch, etc.

REFERRAL PROGRAM TO EARN FREE REGISTRATION

The referral program is one way we can say thank you for participating in our race.  The simple details are below.

  1. Register for the event.
  2. Receive your unique promotional code to share with their friends, family and fellow runners. 
  3. Share your code email, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter or however you like. 
  4. Get 5 people to register using your unique code
  5. GCXC will then refund your registration fee (minus the processing) as a thank you for helping us promote this event.
