Eligibility

Both races are open to adults.  Both races are open to youth athletes 9 and older.  (Racing age is age as of 12/31/24, as per USAT guidelines).  

Preregistration is 1) encouraged to reserve your spot, and 2) cheaper.

Register by 6/1 to guarantee your shirt!

(Discount will be applied on listed entry fees if you register for both races). 

There will also be race day registration.  

Race will be held rain or shine.

This race is USA Triathlon sanctioned.

Sorry, NO PETS ARE ALLOWED at the race (see below).

  • Race will be scored by DQ Events
  • USA Triathlon information: All participants must have a USAT license or purchase one-day license with registration (for either the triathlon or swim races) -- see registration page. 
  • Sorry, NO PETS ARE ALLOWED AT THE RACE.  This is a private lake;  a condition of our use of the facility is that pets must not be brought to the lake.  Thanks for your understanding.
  • Camping
    • Camping is available at the race site, should you wish to stay at Evergreen Lake the night before or after the race.   Evergreen Lake Camping & Fishing
    • Note the campground will only accept two night (i.e. Friday/Saturday) reservations ahead of time.  Single night rentals can be made on-site on the day of arrival, but are subject to availability.  Contact Evergreen Lake for more information about camping.

USA Triathlon Information

USAT INFORMATION

This is a USAT Sanctioned event. All participants must have an active USAT Membership that has not expired before the conclusion of the event and must follow all USAT rules and guidelines.

Common Rules and Information
  • ALL athletes are required to show photo ID. NO ID, NO RACE, NO EXCEPTIONS!
  • Youth (17 and under) athletes without an ID must be accompanied by a parent/guardian with a photo ID
  • Annual members are required to bring their membership card every time they compete in a USAT Sanctioned event.
  • You can download and print out a temporary membership card: https://membership.usatriathlon.org/Member/ViewMemberCard
  • Athletes may only pick up their own packets. Under no circumstances may an athlete pick up a packet for another person.
  • No drafting: a maximum of 15 seconds will be allowed to complete a pass through the draft zone of another athlete
  • Headphones are prohibited
  • No riding in transition at any time
  • Helmets/Chin straps must be worn securely fastened at all times while in possession of your bike. This means before, during, and after the event. This also means from the time you remove your bike from the rack at the start of the bike leg, until after you have placed your bike on the rack at the finish of the bike leg.
  • Verbal or physical abuse of others is not acceptable or tolerated. Participants shall refrain from unsportsmanlike conduct at all times while at the event and during competition, including the use of abusive language; violent acts; intentional misconduct; or any intimidating behavior directed toward, including but not limited to participants, officials, event staff, volunteers and spectators.

Pre-Race/Check-In

  • Parking - park in the gravel lot immediately across the road from the lake.  No parking along the road. Absolutely no driving on grass other than in designated parking areas.
  • Packet pickup and transition area open:  7:00 am to 8:15 am
  • At check in you will pick up your swim cap and race number
  • Clear transition area:  8:15 am
  • Pre-race meeting:  8:20 am
  • Race start:  8:30 am

Swim

  • Open water (lake)
  • Mini Super Sprint Triathlon: 200 meters
  • Super Sprint Triathlon: 400 meters
  • Start is edge of lake (not in-water)
  • Counter-clockwise loop
  • Keep orange buoys on your left
  • There will be in-water lifeguards
  • Wetsuits will be allowed if the water temp is 78 degrees or less.  If the water temp is > 78 degrees, no wetsuits will be allowed.

Transition 1

  • Turn RIGHT when you finish the swim, following cones and moving toward your bike in the transition area.
  • Enter the transition area where it says "SWIM IN".
  • Helmets are required!  No helmet, no race.
  • All helmets must be buckled prior to moving your bike out of the transition area.
  • No bike riding in the transition area.
  • Leave the transition area where it says "BIKE OUT".
  • Mount your bike at the mount line once you get out on the road.

Bike

  • Mini Super Sprint:  3 miles total.  One loop of a 3-mile course.
  • Super Sprint:  6 miles total.  Two loops of a 3-mile course.
  • Roads are flat to slightly rolling, with no large climbs.
  • ANY bike you have is fine (except an E-bike, of course).  Road, mountain, gravel, hybrid, BMX, triathlon bikes all acceptable.
  • Roads will not be closed, but the area is rural with very light traffic on a Sunday morning.
  • No drafting.  (Do not ride immediately behind another rider.)
  • Please stay on the far right side of the road, except to pass another rider.
  • Pass other riders only on their left, when it is safe to do so.
  • PLEASE DO NOT CROSS THE DOUBLE YELLOW LINE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES.  Stay right.
  • Course marshals will be at each intersection directing athletes where to turn.
  • Directions (provided only for reference -- you do not need to remember these on race day):
    • Turn RIGHT out of transition area onto BENDERS Dr.
    • Turn RIGHT onto DEEMER Rd.
    • Turn RIGHT onto SCENIC Dr.
    • Turn RIGHT onto COPELLA Rd.
    • Turn RIGHT onto BENDERS Dr.
    • This returns you to the lake/race site.  If you are finishing your FIRST loop, continue STRAIGHT and repeat the above directions for your second loop.  If you're finishing your SECOND loop, turn RIGHT into the transition area.
  • After second loop, get off bike at DISMOUNT line.  Move toward transition area.
  • Enter transition area where it says "BIKE IN".

Transition 2

  • Enter transition area where it says "BIKE IN"
  • No bike riding in transition area.
  • Replace bike on rack in its original spot
  • Don't forget to remove your helmet!
  • Exit transition area where it says "RUN OUT"

Run

  • Follow signs/cones/volunteers.
  • Directions:
    • Mini Super Sprint
      • Leave transition area heading across grassy field towards gravel road
      • RIGHT on gravel road
      • FOLLOW gravel road until you get to a (180 degree) turnaround sign located at the water/aid station.   Run around cone and head back in the direction from which you came.
      • Bear LEFT off gravel road following signs, cones towards finish area
      • The Mini Super Sprint run turn around is before the loop (i.e. Mini Super Sprint skip the lower loop).
    • Super Sprint
      • Leave transition area heading across grassy field towards gravel road
      • RIGHT on gravel road
      • FOLLOW gravel road loop clockwise, as indicated by signs/volunteers.
      • Bear LEFT off gravel road following signs, cones towards finish area
      • The Super Sprint run is the entire route in the map above (including clockwise around the lower loop).

Post-Race

  • Food/drinks
  • Awards ceremony will begin at approximately 10:15 am
  • Age-group awards
  • Special awards - 1) Top three fastest M+F overall combined time for both races;  2) Fastest parent/child for each race;  3) Fastest sibling pair for each triathlon (no age restriction).
