Description
In celebration of the 25th Anniversary of the Sean T. Smith Memorial Just A Short Run, GCXC invites you to our first-ever Community Run/Walk with our newest 2025 charitable partner, Cancer Bridges. We are so excited to have Cancer Bridges on board and look forward to everyone seeing their space and learning about all the great work they do right here in Pittsburgh.
We will have 6 great run or walk route options for participants with a pace group for you, whether you are a seasoned runner training for a spring marathon or a first-time walker! The event culminates with a fantastic pancake breakfast provided by Cancer Bridges staff and volunteers.
In addition, GCXC will have some fun surprises with opportunities for discount registrations to upcoming events, raffle prizes, and more.
Donations for Cancer Bridges will gladly be accepted at the run with a $5 suggested donation for all pancake breakfast participants.
Event Timetable
- 7:00 am -7:45 am - Check-in, welcome, and explore the Cancer Bridges facility
- 7:45 am - Keynote presentation from Cancer Bridges leadership about the work they do and why our support is so important.
- 7:55 am - Run route and pace group review
- 8:00 - 8:15 am - Pace groups depart for their run/walk
- 9:00 am - 12:00 pm - Post run/walk pancake breakfast, raffles and more.
Pace Group Information and Route Maps
PACE GROUP INFORMATION
- There will be pace groups beginning at 7:30/mile through run/walk in 30-second/mile increments.
- 7:30, 8:00, 8:30, 9:00, 9:30, 10:00, 10:30, 11:00, 11:30, 12:00 as well as run/walk
- Pacers will be comprised of run club volunteers from the many run clubs attending.
- Please be sure to select a pace and distance during registration that fits with your training and current level of fitness on the day of the event.
DISTANCE OPTIONS and ROUTE MAPS
- Distance options will be 1 mile, 2 miles, 4 miles, 7 miles, 10 miles and 16 miles.

Group Run/Walk Etiquette
In order to have a safe, fun, and enjoyable event, we kindly ask that all participants adhere to the following guidelines:
- Please arrive on time
- Please check in upon arrival and check out to let us know you returned
- Please have your route downloaded to your phone, Run Go app or printed for reference
- Please stay with your pace group and follow the leadership of your volunteer pacers
- Please obey all traffic signals and street crossing signs for safety
- Please run ONLY ON SIDEWALKS and NOT IN THE STREET
- Please follow the designed route and do not create your own route which can confuse other participants
