The Old Millstone Golf Course - September 25th 2021
The race series is proud to establish a scenic 2 Mile Loop (ALL ON CART PATH) around the Old Millstone Golf course on the west side of Greenville. NEW course, NEW location, with proceeds going to a NEW conservation effort at an old closed down golf course! Trees, rivers, ponds, beavers! No chance of a birdie on this course!
The Ethos Project has recently purchased this 200 acre plot of land and placed it under a permanent protection conservation easement. A conservation easement is set of restrictions placed on a designated piece of land that prevents development or other substantial change in perpetuity. It is voluntary and unchangeable, and is designed to preserve and protect the property’s natural state.
The course will offer a fast attempt at a distance PR. There will be water on site but no power so please bring solar or a quiet running generator if you need it. This will be a child out attempt to host runners of all abilities on a course that will soon be open to the public.
The course is on private land as of now so no previews. The course is held on a 2 mile loop on the back 9 of an old golf course on the west side of Greenville. The start and finish line is located near the driving range. Parking is adjacent to the driving range and runners will be able to set up a personal aid station right along the course. The loop is in general flat and 4 feet wide with plenty of room to pass other runners. There is one main hill that will act as a walking section for most of our participants that lead you right back to the aid/station and parking lot. Along the course you will see plenty of wildlife, plant life, shade, rivers, and ponds! Runners are required to use a headlamp during night hours.
You can pick up your race bib and any apparel items purchased race morning near our timing tent at the start finish line near the amphitheater. Packet Pickup will start 60 minute prior to the start of each distance! Apparel will be for sale on race day. Race Day registration is also available but I will warn you now, you will not like the price. Best bet is to register now!
All race participants will receive an Upstate Ultra Sticker and a unique wooden finisher award. Not everyone likes shirts so we have provided an option to purchase an Upstate Ultra Tri-Blend Shirt, Performance Socks, Trucker Hat, or Trail Buff.
Top 3 Male and Female will receive a custom hand made award by our partner of Next Up Opportunity! Each finisher will receive a finisher medal that will be branded with the race logo and come with a custom race patch on the backside! We will also publish our age group results that will coincide with our Race Series. To learn more about our race series and awards please visit our results page here: HERE
Personal Aid Station Setup
You will be able to set up a 10 x 10 personal aid station along the course near the start finish line and the parking lot throughout the event. You will be able to set up your area prior to the race start or on Friday from 4pm to 7pm. There will be water on site but no power so if you have a portable generator or solar lights that would be advised for overnight running. All runners must have a headlamp or flashlight during the night hours.
Bib # & Timing Chip
Please locate the Bib # Sheet at packet pickup. It will be organized by distance and in alphabetical order. Find your name that corresponds with your assigned bib # and give that number to one of our volunteers at packet pickup. Please make sure that your bib is on the front of your body and is visible when you cross the finish line. Please make sure to return your timing chip to the correct storage bin located at the finish line prior to getting your finish medal. Participants who lose or neglect to return their timing chip will be asked to mail it in or pay $15 to have the reusable chip replaced.
We will have a basic aid station at the start/finish line of the race that includes water, tailwind, soda, cookies, crackers, and other sugary fixes!
