BREAK THE WORLD MARATHON RECORD, WIN A FORD -SPONSORED BY LENOIR CITY FORD

Challenging race in the scenic East Tennessee County of Loudon. Our full marathon race is a Boston Qualifier! This point-to-point race will start in Lenoir City and finish in City of Loudon. Route features countryside, river views, and small town venues. Sterl the Pearl will get us started and help us across the finish line again this year.  Event includes Full Marathon, Half Marathon, 5K and Fun Run.    Break The World Marathon Record and Win A Ford!! - Sponsored by Lenoir City Ford.  Runners must be 18 to win and break the current world record for the marathon to be eligible to win. In the event that the current male world record of 2 hours, 1 minute, 39 seconds or current female world record of 2 hours, 15 minutes, 25 seconds is broken and a new, certified world record is set on the Run LoCo Marathon Course, Lenoir City Ford will provide the 2019 Ford Escape as prize to the record breaker. The new record must be ratified by the International Association of Athletics Federation Winner will be responsible for all vehicle taxes, fees and registration. In the case that both a male and female runner break the respective records, the prize will be awarded to the runner with the widest time margin between record and actual times. Only one prize will be awarded.

 

 

Race Requirements

You must be at least 6 years of age to register and compete in the 5K and at least 17 years of age to register and compete in the marathon and half marathon. The marathon and half marathon course will be promptly reopened to traffic at 2:00 pm (6 hours after the start of the race.) There will not be any support for runners or walkers along the race course after 2:00 pm. Race timing will be until 2:00 pm. The 5K Course will be promptly reopened to traffic at 9:45 am ( 90 minutes after the start of the race) There will not be any support for runners or walkers along the race course after 9:45 am. Dogs, vehicles to transport children, baby carriers, bicycles, skates, and skateboards, are strictly prohibited.

Race Entry Regulations

Entry fees are NON-TRANSFERABLE and NON-REFUNDABLE.
You must be at least 6 years old to run the 5k and at least 17 years old to run the Marathon or Half Marathon.
You must be in good health and physically prepared to run the race.
A race bib is required to run the race. You must wear the bib that you are assigned.
Race Officials have the right to remove participants who do not comply.

NO dogs, vehicles to transport children, baby carriers, bicycles, in-line skates or skateboards.
Race Officials have the right to disqualify or remove from the course any participant whose activity violates any condition set forth or who poses any harm to himself/herself or any other participant.

PARKING & BUS DEPARTURE FOR THIS POINT-TO-POINT COURSE

Runners will park in downtown Loudon, in designated areas, and will be bused to the starting line Located at  Creekwood Park Boulevard, Lenoir City, Tn 37772. Due to a shortage of parking at the start, we strongly recommend parking in the designated area at the Finish Line and making use of the transportation provided. You will be directed where to park and where to go to load the buses. Buses will leave approximately every 30 minutes beginning at TBD with the last bus leaving at 7:00 AM. It is about a 30 minute trip to Lenoir City  and the start line. Based on the weather conditions, the buses may be used as warming areas prior to the start. Buses will not be returning to the start area. The Race will start promptly at 8:00am, so please plan accordingly. Runners are encouraged to arrive at the bus pickup area 15 minutes prior to their desired departure time to allow sufficient time for last-minute preparation and boarding the buses. If you chose to make your own way to the starting area, it will be your responsibility to return to your vehicle after the race.

No Race Day Registration

THERE WILL BE NO DAY OF RACE REGISTRATION.

Registration for all events will close at 6:00 PM EST Friday, December 6, 2019.

Half Marathon and Marathon:  3 deep m/f overall   1 deep m/f master, grandmaster and veteran   3 deep m/f in age group 17-19, 20-24, 25-29,  30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49  50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75+

5K:   3 deep m/f overall   1 deep m/f master, grandmaster and veteran    3 deep m/f in age group 6-10, 11-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49 50-54, 55-59,  60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75+         

Text Messaging of Race Results

The Run LOCO Marathon, Half Marathon, & 5K Run offers results text messaging capability. The event offers this capability at no charge to the participants. If the participant does not have a data plan from their phone service, there may be a charge from their phone server for data transfer. If in doubt about your data plan, you should check with your phone service provider before selecting this option.

Race Officials have the right to disqualify or remove from the course any participant whose activity violates any condition set forth or who poses any harm to himself/herself or any other participant.

What is the Loudon County Education Foundation? The Loudon County Education Foundation offers scholarships to students, and classroom grants to teachers, conducts the annual Young Achievers Award Ceremony, holds an annual essay contest for grades 3 – 8 and facilitates funding for other programs for both the City and County school systems. We are the host organization for Imagination Library in Loudon County and Leadership Loudon County is also a part of the excellent package of programs offered by the Education Foundation. ​The Education Foundation is an important resource for our community. 

Event Transfers

We realize that sometimes circumstances arise that affect the event chosen during the registration process. The Run LOCO Marathon, Half Marathon & 5K Race will allow participants to transfer between events after they complete the registration process under the following guidelines:

Transfer from the 5K to the Marathon or Half Marathon by 11:59 p.m. November 1, 2019.  Pay the additional fee for the Marathon or Half Marathon PLUS a $10 processing fee.

Transfer from the Marathon or Half Marathon to the 5K by 11:59 p.m. November 1, 2019. No refund of the Marathon or Half Marathon fee PLUS a $10 processing fee.

The following steps will enable a registrant to transfer to a different event prior to November 1, 2019:

1. Sign In to RunSignUp
2. Go to your Profile
3. Click My Registered Races
4. Click Manage Registration next to the registration that you would like to transfer your event for
5. Click the Transfer Event Pricing menu item
6. Click the Start Transfer button
7. Select your new Event from the Event Drop-Down and click Continue
8. Agree to the Waiver and click Continue to complete the rest of the registration

Race Packet Pick Up

Packet Pick Up Will be held at Loudon County Visitors Bureau in Lenoir City from 12 am - 8pm on Friday, December 6, 2019

A photo ID is required for packet pick up.  A fellow runner may pick up packets for other runners provided they have a copy of that runner’s photo ID.

 

A parent or legal guardian MUST accompany a minor participant at packet pickup.
