Secure your slot at checkout before they sell out!
📋 Race Distance Changes and Policies
We understand that training plans and schedules change! Here is everything you need to know about switching your distance
✉️ How to Request a Distance Switch
Unlike standard online changes, you must contact us directly to process these updates. Please email funrun@houstonheights.org to request any distance switches or bib transfers.
📉 Switching from the 10K to the 5K: This change is completely free of charge. Please note that we do not issue partial refunds for the price difference.
📈 Switching from the 5K to the 10K: You can upgrade your distance by paying the difference between your original registration fee and the current price of the 10K at the time of your request.
🧒 Kids' Distance Changes: Did your little one suddenly decide they want to tackle the 5K, or have they realized they aren't quite ready for the full 5K yet? The same rules apply! Upgrading them from the Kids 1K event to the 5K just requires paying the current price difference, while dropping them down to the shorter distance is completely free.
🛑 Crucial Timing Notice: Do NOT Simply Drop Down Mid-Race!
Our timing system relies on your bib matching your exact registered distance. Making a sudden change without updating your profile causes major administrative issues!
❌ Do NOT stop at the 5K finish line if you are wearing a 10K bib. When a 10K runner stops at the 5K mark, the system logs it as a finishing time—making it look like impossible world records were broken! It is a massive headache for our timing team to untangle. If you are running the 10K and decide mid-race that you need to stop at the 5K finish, do not cross the finish line (BUT YOU CAN STILL COLLECT A MEDAL!)
You must IMMEDIATELY report directly to the timing tent or the help desk to let them know you cut your distance short.
We truly appreciate your help and cooperation with this! Keeping our timing data clean ensures we can keep our awards ceremony on schedule and accurate. 🤝
⏱️ Update your bib before the gun: If you want to change your distance before the race starts, please email us ahead of time or visit the Race Director at the packet pickup
⚠️ Refunds and Deferrals Policy
Please plan carefully before signing up, as we enforce a strict policy regarding cancellations:
💸 No Refunds: All registration fees are final.
📅 No Deferrals: We cannot defer your entry or roll your registration over to a future year's event.
🌧️ Weather Policy: This event is rain or shine. Please dress weather-appropriate (bring raincoats if needed). We will only cancel if there is lightning or if local authorities instruct us to do so
