Description
On October 19-20 we will once again host our annual Blue Jay 5K & Hero Mile! This year's race will be a virtual event. This event includes a 5K Virtual Race and a 1-Mile Virtual Race. The goal of this race is to raise money for a scholarship fund created in honor of Officer Philip Michael Pennington, who our school was named after in September 2000. Officer Pennington was shot and killed while serving our community as a member of the Special Weapons and Tactics, or SWAT Team. Our school strives to uphold his character through our high standards and character education. His memory lives on through our students as they strive for excellence in education.
**Anyone may register to participate in the event. There is a question asking for the homeroom teacher to track student participation and award/student and class incentives.**

Packet Pick Up will be held on Friday, October 18th from 4pm-5:30pm at the school.

Submitting Your Results
How to Track Your Distance and Time:
For those with an Apple Watch, Fitbit, etc. you can track your 5K directly on your device. You also have the option to use the RaceJoy app on October 19th or 20th! More information is provided below on how to use RaceJoy. RaceJoy will automatically submit your finish time for you. This will sometimes take a few minutes, but your results will appear on the site shortly after your finish your 5K or 1 Mile race.

You may submit your results starting on October 19th. All results must be submitted by 11:59pm on Sunday, October 20th!
