Start off the New Year with Richmond Road Runners Club's First Day 5K and Kids Fun Run/Walk. The 5K race features a fast and flat course that runs through the Roxshire neighborhood in Midlothian.
To mark the New Year, the race again features special divisions (and awards) for the top finishers wearing an evening gown or tux and awards for the runner with a finish time closest to 20:21.
There is a free Kids Fun Run/Walk (0.5 miles) after the 5K race.
Registration will open in November 2020.
The 5K course is fast and flat through the Roxshire neighborhood. You'll have no problem setting your 5K personal best for 2021.
NOTE: Revised course starting 2020. Still fast and flat but the turnaround is at Chartstone Drive and on the return leg the course leaves Framar briefly for a short detour (Carbonhill Drive-Diamond Hill Drive-Carbonhill Drive). The change provides most of the residents south of Framar with egress via Chartstone Drive to Salisbury and Robious Roads.
One water stop will support runners at about mile 2 and mile 2.5 on the course.
This is a road race conducted under the rules of USATF and RRCA. In consideration of the safety of all participants, the following are not allowed on the course during the race: baby joggers, baby strollers, animals on or off leash, skateboards, inline or roller skates, or bicycles. The use of personal music devices is strongly discouraged at this race. To enjoy all that our race has to offer and for the safety of all participants, RRRC encourages a headphone-free environment during the running of the First Day 5K.
PLEASE NOTE THAT YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR YOUR SAFETY. BE ALERT, WATCH FOR TRAFFIC & PAY ATTENTION TO YOUR FELLOW RUNNERS, COURSE MARSHALS, AND POLICE.
