2024 OBSTACLE COURSE OVERVIEW & RULES

UPDATED JULY 5, 2024

Obstacles have been added and old favorites have been modified to continually improve the course.

All Obstacles are listed in order below with instructions on how to successfully complete them.  One important note to highlight is the hay bale rope swing has been changed to a combination hay bale and rope climb.

1.  Military crawl.  Crawl under the ropes attached to the PVC framework.

2.  Spider Climb. Climb over and down the backside of the climbing net

3 & 4.    Tire/Trampoline agility drill and Balance beam.  These obstacles are connected. The tires have plywood fastened to the tops of them.  Athletes must hop from tire to tire to mini trampolines without touching the ground.  Step off the last tire and onto the balance beam without touching the ground.  If at any point, a        foot touches the ground a penalty must be completed.

5.  Hay bale climb and rope climb.  Climb a round hay bale and then a rope affixed between two trees. Ring the bell at the top of the rope to successfully complete,  A penalty must be completed if the bell is not rung.

6.  Looped rope Jungle Gym.  Climb the rope, Cross the span by swinging from loop to loop.  The obstacle is successfully completed by grabbing and holding the the last loop.  Note;  There is a climb down rope after the final loop that can be used to exit the obstacle, but it is not required   Fail to grab the final loop, complete a penalty.

7.  Lift sand bag over pallet.  Sand bags must be picked up and dropped on the other side of a vertical pallet..  There are 50lb and 100lb bags.  If you choose the 50lb bag, 3 repititions must be completed.  Only one for the 100 lb. bag.

8.  Water slide.  This is the only optional obstacle.  It is strictly for fun, but is the fastest way down the hill.  If you prefer to stay dry and run down the hill, no penalty is required.

9.  Tire flip.  New for this year, we have an extra large tractor tire along with a truck tire. You choose which size tire to flip.  The tractor tire must only be flipped once; the truck tire must be flipped 3 times.

10.  Footwork agility drill.  Two identical obstacles are side by side,  you choose the dry option or being Super soaked with water guns by the Crusaders as you complete this obstacle.

11.  Hay bale hurdles.  Hurdle over a single hay bale, climb bales in front of vertical pallets and a round hay bale.

12.  Slanted steps.  You must go through all four steps without touching the ground.

13.  Floorless room.  You choose how to navigate the nearly vertical 8 ft span using hands, feet, elbows, etc.  You just can’t touch the ground.

14.  Hay bale mountain. Climb over 3 round hay bales, the center bale is on top of the other 2.

15.  Ninja wall.  You must reach the top of the ninja wall and then climb down the backside. This is an all new Ninja wall that is 10 feet tall. The only optional obstacle is the waterslide.  You do not have to attempt any obstacle that you are uncomfortable with trying, but you must perform a double penalty if you skip an obstacle.

Penalty Punishments
15 jumping jacks
15 push ups
15 box jumps
15 burpees

For example;  if an athlete steps off the balance beam or doesn’t summit, the ninja wall, then one of the four above penalties must be performed.  If the participant makes no attempt at the obstacle, two of the above penalty punishments must be performed.  There are box jump platforms stationed at the spider climb, looped rings, and Ninja wall.  Penalty punishments only apply to the 5KOC.
