Description
Come out and explore the trails of the James River Park System on RVA Trail Day. Richmond Road Runners Club, in partnership with JRPS and Friends of the James River Park, has organized RVA Trail Day on National Trails Day®. On your own or with an experienced trail runner, venture on one or more of the North Bank, Texas Beach, Buttermilk, Belle Isle, and Forest Hill Park trails. Find the beauty of nature and the physical challenges hidden in the heart of Richmond along the James River.
Volunteers with the Richmond Road Runners Club will be at the Pump House Drive trailhead (immediately adjacent to the Boulevard Bridge toll plaza - signs will be posted) starting at 8:00 AM to lead group runs/power hikes. Volunteers will answer your questions and offer advice on exploring the trails. Fluids and snacks will be available. There is a water fountain at the trailhead parking lot and portable toilets will be available.
Group trail runs or hikes will start at the following times:
- 8:00 AM 6- to 7-mile trail run
- 9:30 AM 4-mile trail run & 4-mile trail power hike
- 10:30 AM 6- to 7-mile trail run
Groups will be led by experienced trail runners/hikers at a "comfortable" trail running pace, which may mean a blend of running and hiking.
THERE IS NO PRE-EVENT SIGN UP OR ONLINE REGISTRATION! JUST SHOW UP!
Please arrive at least 20 minutes before a scheduled run/power hike to register on-site.

The Friends of the James River Park is an all-volunteer 501(c)(3) organization that works in partnership with the Park staff to promote, conserve and support the Park. The Friends encourages public participation in supporting this regional treasure by raising funds for programs, maintenance, and restoration projects and advocacy to raise awareness and support.
National Trails Day
Each year on the first Saturday in June it is National Trails Day®. Events held throughout the United States help promote awareness of the wide variety of benefits that trails provide, encourage people to discover their local trials, raise awareness of trail issues and instill excitement for the outdoors.
