Richmond Road Runners Club and the race's sponsor Wegmans will host the 42nd running of Richmond's Turkey Trot 10K on Thanksgiving morning. Plan to join us for a challenging 10K road race and the kids' fun run in and around the University of Richmond. This running-in-Richmond tradition regularly sells out its limit of 1,600 participants.
Registration will open in early September 2019.
This is a hilly and challenging 10K course that loops around the campus of the University of Richmond and neighboring streets. About a ½-mile of the course is on the trail by Westhampton Lake (about 2.5 miles into the race). The trail section is narrow: slower runners need to be prepared to yield to faster runners passing you and faster runners need to be alert for other runners slowing as they maneuver the trail.
PLEASE NOTE THAT YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR YOUR SAFETY. SECTIONS OF THE COURSE WILL BE OPEN TO VEHICULAR TRAFFIC. BE ALERT, WATCH FOR TRAFFIC AND PAY ATTENTION TO YOUR FELLOW RUNNERS, COURSE MARSHALS, AND POLICE.
This is a road race conducted under the rules of USATF and RRCA. In consideration of the safety of all participants, the following are not allowed on the course during the race: baby joggers, baby strollers, headphones, animals on or off leash, skateboards, inline or roller skates, or bicycles. The use of personal music devices is strongly discouraged at this race. To enjoy all that our race has to offer and for the safety of all participants, RRRC encourages a headphone-free environment during the running of the Wegmans Turkey Trot 10K.
Course records were set by Silas Frantz (men: 31:18, 2015) and Rena Chesser (women: 36:44, 2011).
