This is our grand finale of half marathons for the year. With all that hard training and racing, here’s your final chance to get that PR you’ve been working towards all season. Beginning at Shelburne Field House (on Athletic Drive), the Half Marathon is a loop course. You’ll start out running through one of Shelburne’s most popular neighborhoods before heading into the countryside. After a short jaunt past Shelburne Farms, you’ll progress north to the Shelburne Shipyard where you’ll turn around and head back home (don’t miss the beautiful views of Lake Champlain and the Adirondacks along the way). Continue down the Shelburne Bay Path and the historic Ti-Path before returning to Shelburne Field House.
There will be 2 waves for this race: 5K/10K and Half Marathon with the 5K & 10K leaving at 8:00 am and the Half Marathon starting at 8:05 am.
Our half course was recognized in 2014 by Active.com as one of nine of the most scenic Fall half marathon courses in New England. Last year we saw racers from 17 states plus the District of Columbia and Quebec. This race drew racers from as far away as California, Arizona, Mississippi, North Carolina and Quebec.
To celebrate a great racing season and your successes, we’ll gather for some post-race snacks after your race. Be sure to stick around for the awards ceremony and the product raffle full of great prizes — but you have to be there to win.
New for 2020, we will be offering race tracking, a multi-race discount to those who register for 2 of our 3 half marathons ($10 discount) or all three of our half marathons ($30 discount), and a $10 discount to racers age 12 & under for all of our races. These discounts get automatically applied when registering online.
Race bibs and t-shirts will be available at Fleet Feet Sports, 77 Pearl Street, Essex Junction, Vermont on Saturday, November 7 from Noon to 4 pm. Because we will no have an awards ceremony and post-race raffle following this race, all raffle prizes will be given away randomly to those who check in at Fleet Feet on Friday before the race. You MUST be registered by 8 am Friday morning to be entered into the raffle. Prizes that are not picked up on Saturday will be added to the raffle for our next race (the Cupid 5K).
Race day check in will be open starting at 7:15, Sunday, November 8. Prior to race day, you will receive an email letting you know when your starting time is (we are going to use rolling starts based on race pace/expected finish time). Please do not arrive any earlier than 20-30 minutes ahead of your start time in order to help keep the number of racers standing around to a minimum.
Racevermont.com is pleased to offer, and HIGHLY recommends the use of RaceJoy - a GPS tracking system for Android and iPhone users. Why use it?
