Description

Beginning and ending at Shelburne Field House, the half marathon is a loop course in picturesque Shelburne, Vermont.  You'll be running on a combination of dirt and back roads including a portion on the Meach Cove property, running past Shelburne Farms, and a stretch of Harbor Road with beautiful views of Lake Champlain and the Adirondacks.  The 5K and 10K courses are both out-and-back courses that run along Harbor Road and back. The 5K is relatively flat, whereas the 10K has a couple of hills.

After the race, enjoy a post-race meal prepared by Barkeaters Restaurant. You'll have the option during registration to purchase additional meal vouchers for your fans.

This race usually draws racers from across the country and from Canada and has sold out every year for the past 5 years. Again this year we are pleased to offer a $10 discount to racers age 12 & under for all of our races. Do not hesitate to register.

Pre-Race and Race Day Check In

Race bibs and t-shirts will be available at Fleet Feet, 77 Pearl Street, Essex Junction, Vermont on Friday, October 28 from noon to 5 pm for those who would like to pick up their packet early. You are welcome to pick up a friend's race packet as long as they've already signed the waiver. Racers will receive a 15% in-store discount when picking up their race packets. Those who pick up their packets on Friday do not need to check in on race day, but they should arrive no later than 8:40 am to be sure to hear pre-race announcements. Note: If you are entering the address into your mapping app for PRE-RACE pickup, be sure to use Essex Junction, VT; NOT Essex, VT.

Race day check in will open at 8:00 am, Saturday, October 29 at Shelburne Field House for those who have not already picked up their packets.

Where to Park

Due to the high volume of cars expected, there is no parking at Shelburne Field House for this event. Please park at one of these nearby locations:

  1. Shelburne Community School, 345 Harbor Road
  2. Shelburne Train Station, 71 Harbor Road
  3. Shelburne Town Hall, 5420 Shelburne Road
  4. The Creamery, 5138 Shelburne Road
  5. Shelburne Shopping Park (off Falls Road)

None of these locations are far from Shelburne Field House. You are welcome to bring a bag to leave behind at the Field House; however, no one is assigned to watch these bags, so you will be leaving them at our own risk.

Water & Relief Stations

There will be water stations at 3 locations along the course. They will be located at:

  • Intersection of Depot Road and Harbor Road (approximately at mile .75 of the 5K/10K and mile 2.6 and 5 of the half marathon)
  • Just before the 10K turnaround (approximately at mile 3 of the 10K and mile 7.25 of the half marathon)
  • At the intersection of the Shelburne Rec Path and Harbor Road (at approximately mile 10.6 of the half marathon)

Plain water and Nuun will be available in cups at the water stations. Because of COVID, volunteers will be filling cups and placing them on a table. They will not be handing out the water. For your protection, and that of our volunteers, we recommend that you travel with your own water; however, water and electrolyte will be available to anyone who wants it.

In addition to the start/finish, portable toilets will be located at the Depot Road water station and just before the 10K turnaround.
