We're BACK with Loop The ‘Lupe, Seattle's best 5K obstacle course fun run! This event will take place at Walt Hundley Playfield in West Seattle on Saturday, June 4th Here's what's in store for 2022:
The "Loop" is a 1K course looping Walt Hundley Playfield. On your 1K, you'll face 7 different obstacles from tires, to walls to mud pits that you'll have to tackle to get to the finish line. All participants will complete the loop 5 times to complete their 5K race, which means 35 obstacles to conquer! Check out the course map to find which obstacles stand in your way!
Each participant gets one of our slick, ready-to-race tech shirts, this year in men's and women's sizes! REGISTER to get yours today--and thanks for some great design work from Susie Perry Designs! Remember, T-SHIRT SIZES MAY BE LIMITED FOR REGISTRANTS AFTER MAY 16, SO SIGN UP RIGHT AWAY!
Check out the first-ever Loop the 'Lupe finisher medal, designed by Stride Awards, featuring a "mud"-spattered ribbon and a ROTATING foot logo, courtesy Susie Perry Designs! This award is for all finishers in all events (Obstacle Course, Fun Run, Senior Saunter and Youth Dash), but you gotta be in it to win it!
We have plenty of prizes for our winners! Prize decisions will be made by Loop the 'Lupe, and all decisions are final. Winners for in-person races will pick up prizes after results are tabulated on June 4th at Walt Hundley Playfield. Virtual prize winners will be contacted via email. Here's what you're in the running for:

Run / Walk / Obstacle Course FAQs:
DO I NEED TO WEAR A MASK?
As of February 18th, the Governor has lifted the masking requirement for outdoor events. We'll keep an eye on state, county, and city guidance for this situation on race day, so stay tuned! We're going to have staggered starts for our events to keep our participants as separate as possible, and we ask everyone to be courteous to each other on the course.
IS SOCIAL DISTANCING REQUIRED?
As noted above, the answer as of February 18 is "no." As we've done before, we'll be spacing out our "waves" of participants. Please respect the space of other people as we work our way out of the pandemic. Also, please note the advice from the state about wearing a mask in crowded situations if you're vaccinated or unvaccinated.
CAN I GET VACCINATED AT THE EVENT?
WE'RE WORKING ON THIS, and if we can get the project set up, you'll get an entry fee discount for getting your shot!
WHAT ABOUT THE BEER GARDEN, FOOD, AND LIVE MUSIC?
We're good to go! We're looking forward to another rocking time with the help of School of Rock West Seattle and some other special guests!
WHAT IF I'D RATHER PARTICIPATE VIRTUALLY?
Go for it, we'd love to have your participation! A Virtual Run is an event you can complete anytime, anywhere! There isn't a set time or place since virtual runs are meant for you to complete at your convenience and at your own pace. Register for the race, then send an email to loopthelupe@gmail.com to let race organizers know you'll be participating virtually, so we can get you your t-shirt. The Loop the 'Lupe Virtual Run can be completed at any time between now and June 4, 2022. We'll offer prizes to people who post the most inventive and creative photos and videos of themselves participating, here on our Facebook page!
Bottom line, as we emerge from the pandemic, our goal is to provide you a safe way to stay healthy and active, while gathering your support for the social outreach work of Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in West Seattle. Your involvement makes a difference!
HOW DO I PARTICIPATE AS A TEAM?
It's easy! Choose the team registration option for any of the challenges you'd like to participate in, create a team and invite your friends to participate! A team consists of 2+ people, and we'll include prizes for best team name/involvement/participation when you post on our Facebook page!
WHEN AND HOW CAN I GET MY SWAG?
This year, we're once again offering all participants our famously comfortable, always fashionable tech race t-shirt! T-SHIRT SIZES MAY BE LIMITED FOR REGISTRANTS AFTER MAY 16, SO SIGN UP TODAY! The shirts will be available for pickup at West Seattle Runner (2736 California Ave. SW, West Seattle) on fFriday, June 3 from 3-5 p.m.
WHAT ABOUT PRIZES?
We'll award prizes for in-person and virtual runners. We'll also have awards for participants who bring in the most donations! Prizes from West Seattle Runner, Menchie's Frozen Yogurt, Whole Foods Market, Avalon Glassworks, City Sweats, and Ounces Taproom and Beer Garden (and more!), will be awarded for in-person participants at the event, June 3rd. Virtual participants, we'll contact you during the week of June 5-12! Look below in the "Prizes" section for more details.
WHAT DOES MY REGISTRATION FEE GO TOWARDS?
Proceeds from Loop the 'Lupe go towards supporting the social outreach efforts of Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in West Seattle. This includes efforts to help shut-ins and the elderly, a safe parking program for homeless people coordinated by the Urban League of Metropolitan Seattle, and work to help migrant workers in our state and their families. As we emerge from the COVID crisis, support for these programs is needed more than ever! The amount of money we’re raising with Loop the Lupe is helping people of all ages and of all religious (or non-religious) backgrounds. We know it’s not just what you give–it’s where you give. Help us support a cause that’s directly focused on our local West Seattle community. Thank you!
