Description
A little running (or walking) through Lake Vista Park in Oak Creek along Lake Michigan (mostly paved, one uphill segment may or may not be a bit rocky - ok, it definitely is, but the view is worth it, we promise!), a little beer, and a whole lot of fun!
This registration is for The Oak Creek Beer Garden 5K at Lake Vista Park on Thursday, June 6th only. If you would like to register for the entire 4 - event Beer Garden 5K Series, please go to the series registration site: Beer Garden 5K Series
COURSE MAP
This is our windiest course ever! Are you ready for twists, turns, and hills?! Don't worry, you have until June to prepare and we believe in you! We promise this course comes with Great Lake views (see what we did there?) and it'll be marked REALLY well, so you won't be able to get lost, even if looking at the course map has you convinced otherwise.
The walk division is a timed event. It is not a competitive event and there are no awards for the walk division. Walkers will receive a finisher woodle!
RACE DAY SCHEDULE
5:30 pm: Packet Pickup Opens
6:15 pm: Kiddo's 1K
6:30 pm: 5K Race/Walk Starts
We have returned to mass starts! If you'd prefer to continue social distancing, you are welcome to distance from those toeing the line and may start your race when you are comfortable. The start line will remain open for about 5 minutes.
BEER PARTNER
We are excited to partner with Raised Grain Brewing Company for this beer garden run. Runners will receive one free beer or root beer for participating in the event.
Water and freeze pops will also be available at the finish line.
T-SHIRTS
All participants who register for the race by Wednesday, May 23 will be guaranteed a race t-shirt. After that, t-shirt sizes and quantities will be limited. Have too many race shirts? No problem, you can opt out of a t-shirt at registration and save $5!
FINISH LINE FREEZER POPS
We know how much you love a freezer pop at the finish, so we are bringing them back! All finishers will receive a freezer pop!
FINISHER WOODLES & AWARDS
Finisher Woodles
All participants will receive a custom finisher Woodle made by our friends at Ridgeway Woodworks. The Woodles include a bottle opener in the back, and are made in America from 100% reclaimed wood.
Overall Awards
The overall male and female finisher at each race will receive a custom award from Ridgeway Woodworks.
Age Group Awards
Top 3 male and female finishers in each age group will receive a custom award medal. Age groups are 0-14, then 5-year increments.
KIDS RUN FOR FREE!
There will be a Kids 1K run (under 12) where all kids will get a bib just like Mom & Dad. The race is FREE for the kiddos if Mom or Dad is registered and you can register them online at no charge. Sorry, no shirts for the kids, but they do get a finisher medal!
BONUS SQUATCH CHALLENGE IS BACK
“What’s up with the Squatch?” Good question! If you aren’t familiar, Squatch is the unofficial Silver Circle mascot and he’s a bit of a legend around Oconomowoc, which just so happens to be Silver Circle Global HQ.
We’ve decided to play a game with Squatch at the 2024 Beer Garden 5K Series!
We’ll be hiding 2 small wooden sasquatches from Ridgeway Woodworks (much like the ones pictured below) along the race course – they will NOT be out in the open – it’s Squatch, after all. IF you manage to spot one while you’re out on the course and decide to sacrifice your potential PR to return Squatch to the finish line with you, you will be rewarded with a BONUS beer. That’s right – TWO free beers! So, are you here for the win and the glory, or are you here for the beer… and, of course, the glory?
Oh, we almost forgot to mention: you'll get to keep Squatch, too! (#WheresSquatch)
AVERAGE JOE & JANE AWARDS
The Average Joe & Jane Awards are back for the Beer Garden Series, and are presented to the male and female runner who finished in the exact middle of all runners. Winners will receive a t-shirt and custom woodle!
PARKING
Parking is available throughout Lake Vista Park. Please only park in designated parking areas. You may want to consider carpooling and arriving early unless you thoroughly enjoy bonus hills!
TEAM CHALLENGE
Think you and your friends are the fastest beer runners on the planet? Prove it! The team challenge is back for 2024.
How it works:
Create a team during registration! Invite your family, friends coworkers, and that super fast 21-year-old that lives down the street. The more, the merrier, and the better your chances!
The team with the 4 fastest runners gets an extra beer and an awesome trophy! The more runners you have, the better your chances.
We will be using age grading for the team challenge. Don't worry about the math. Our timing software will calculate it. If you really want to know everthing there ever was about age grading, here is an article by timing legend Alan Jones.
