Description

Ted Miller passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, August 20, 2022. A passionate runner from Racine, WI, Ted excelled in the sport and was an active member of the Racine Area Running Club (RARC), serving as its Vice President and tirelessly promoting the advantages of running within the Southeast Wisconsin community.

He earned his bachelor's degree from UW-Parkside in Kenosha, where he participated in track and cross country. Ted's love for running began at a young age, leading him to become a three-time Collegiate All-American in Track and Field. He proudly won the Racine Lighthouse Run 10 Mile Race twice and was inducted into the Racine Lighthouse Run Hall of Fame at the age of 46.

Ted also worked at Merritt’s Running Center, which paved the way for a career in the shoe industry, ultimately spending the last 20 years at the Weyco Group. Above all, Ted was known as the ultimate nice guy and devoted family man.

To honor the spirit of “Teddy” and celebrate the sport he cherished, the RARC is hosting the Fourth Annual Ted's Run 5K (formerly known as the Ted Miller Memorial 5K). This event will take place at J.I. Case High School in Racine, WI, with a portion of the proceeds being donated to Girls On The Run of Southeastern Wisconsin on behalf of the Ted Miller family.

Course Description

The 3rd Annual Ted's Run 5k will be held at J.I. Case High School. The start/finish line will be located directly West of the parking lot and follow the beautiful paved trails near the school. The route is a USATF certified course. The race will be chip timed with timing provided by Wisconsin Running Systems. Walkers are also welcomed!

Parking

The Case High School main parking lot located on the North side of the school will be open at 8:00am for race participants.

Packet Pick Up and Race Day Schedule

Packet Pick Up will only take place on race day so please plan your arrival accordingly. ***There will be race day registration from 800-845am. Race day registration is $40, we may have some extra t-shirts available for race day registrants but sizes and quantities will be limited and will be included with registration on a first come, first served basis. Cash or check will be accepted.

Schedule:

8:00am - Parking lot opens, packet up pick up begins, same day registration begins
8:45am - Packet pick up closes, same day registration closes
9:00am - 5k race starts, food/beverages will be available to participants as they finish the race
10:15am - Awards

Awards

Custom race medals will be awarded to male and female age group winners including 0-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80+.

***An overall male and female winner will each be recognized and provided a custom Winner's Plaque and prize. Overall winners are not eligible for age group awards.

Participant T-shirt

* T-shirts are included with your race registration, but you must sign up by Tuesday, September 15th at noon to ensure you receive your desired shirt and size. Participants who register after this deadline will receive shirts and sizes based on availability, and there is no guarantee of receiving one.
