Description
Ted Miller passed away suddenly on Saturday, August 20, 2022. Ted was a dedicated runner from Racine, WI where he excelled in running. Ted was a Racine Area Running Club (RARC) member, RARC Vice President and was dedicated to promoting the benefits running in the Southeast Wisconsin community. He earned his bachelor's degree from UW-Parkside in Kenosha where he ran track and cross country. He developed his passion for running at a young age earning him 3x Collegiate All American in Track and Field. Ted won the Racine Lighthouse Run 10 Mile Race twice and was inducted into the Racine Lighthouse Run Hall of Fame at age 46. Ted sold running shoes at Merritt’s Running Center which led to a career in the shoe business and spend the last 20 years at the Weyco Group. More than anything, Ted was the ultimate nice guy and family man. To keep the spirit of “Teddy” alive and promote the sport he loved so much, the RARC is hosting the First Annual Ted Miller Memorial 5K to be held at J.I. Case High School in Racine, WI. Part of the proceeds from the event will be donated to Girls On The Run of Southeastern Wisconsin on the behalf of the Ted Miller family.
Course Description
The First Annual Ted Miller Memorial 5k Run will be held at J.I. Case High School. The start/finish line will be located directly West of the parking lot and follow the beautiful paved trails near the school. The route is a USATF certified course. The race will be chip timed with timing provided by Wisconsin Running Systems. Walkers are also welcomed!

Parking
The Case High School main parking lot located on the North side of the school will be open at 8:00am for race participants.
Packet Pick Up and Race Day Schedule
Packet Pick Up will only take place on race day so please plan your arrival accordingly. ***There will be race day registration from 800-845am. Race day registration is $40, we will have some extra t-shirts available for race day registrants but sizes and quantities will be limited and will be included with registration on a first come, first served basis. Cash or check will be accepted.
Schedule:
- 8:00am - Parking lot opens, packet up pick up begins, same day registration begins
- 8:45am - Packet pick up closes, same day registration closes
- 9:00am - 5k race starts, food/beverages will be available to participants as they finish the race
- 10:15am - Awards
Awards
Custom race medals will be awarded to male and female age group winners including 0-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80+.
***An overall male and female winner will each be recognized and provided a Rogans Shoes Gift Card and a custom Winner's Plaque. Overall winners are not eligible for age group awards.
***The 1st overall finisher 15 & under will also receive a Rogans Shoes Gift Card.
Participant T-shirt
*T-shirts are included in your race registration but you must register by Tuesday, September 19th at noon to guarantee a shirt/size. Participants registered after this time will get shirts/sizes while supplies last and are not guaranteed a shirt.
