5k Course:  Opal Lake Trail No. 564

Description:  For the avid trail runner, be aware this trail ascends gently but consistently. A GPS watch is helpful to trail run 1.55 miles and turnaround. Read more about the trail here. 

Location: From US 160/US 84 junction, turn south onto US 84. Travel 8-miles and turn northeast onto Blanco Basin Road (CR 326), a gravel road. After 9.5-miles turn south onto FS 600 (Castle Creek Road). Continue for 3.3-miles to FR 023 (Opal Lake Road). Turn south and continue an additional .7-mile to the trailhead. Trail Map here.

 

5k or 1mi Fun Run Course:  SanJuan River Walk

Description:  San Juan Riverwalk is a fun and scenic paved trail through downtown Pagosa Springs with lots of places you can wade in the river if you choose. The trail surface is paved and typically at least five feet wide. The grade is flat (all estimated under 1%). Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash. For a 5k, a GPS watch is helpful to trail run 1.55 miles and turnaround. For the 1mi Fun Run, a straight distance is possible anywhere along the 1.9 mile trail.

Take a selfie with a Colorado Waterfall!

Visit the beautiful and scenic Treasure Falls Observation Site. It's right off highway 160 and has options for either a quick observation from the deck or a short hike to get closer to the falls. Directions on Google Maps here.

Visit the Southern Ute Cultural Center and Museum, a Southwest cultural resource and regional highlight. Owned and operated by the Southern Ute Indian Tribe, the Southern Ute Museum was established in 1971 to preserve and promote Ute culture.
