SAFER DRIVING PLEDGE
I pledge to not read or send text messages, emails, or use social media – including posting to Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, SnapChat – while I’m driving.
I pledge to activate the DO NOT DISTURB WHILE DRIVING feature on my iPhone and to active autoreplies so people know why I am not responding. If I have another brand of phone, I will activate safe driving features on it.
If I need to send a text, email, or other electronic communication while driving, I will pull to the side of the road and stop the car before engaging my phone.
Ask a passenger with me to send any text messages on my behalf while I’m driving.
Pull over to a safe location or wait until I am finished driving to eat or apply make-up.
Pull over to a safe location or wait until I am finished driving to adjust music, scroll through I-Pods, I -phones or similar devices.
When being driven by a distracted driver, I will speak up and share my concern.
As a passenger, I will offer to help the driver – including the offer to help give directions, send electronic communication, or call others on the driver’s behalf – so that they can drive safely.
I will let others know that I’ve committed to being a safer driver.
