Justice
In 2022, the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence reported 94 deaths in Colorado alone due to domestic violence. Unfortunately, a lack of understanding about what constitutes "domestic violence" within the legal and justice systems has led to devastating outcomes. Even trained professionals, including psychologists, can overlook critical signs of abuse, resulting in children being placed in the care of their abuser. Many abusers manipulate the system by presenting a different persona to the public compared to their behavior behind closed doors.
At Joy & Justice, we aim to raise awareness and educate others about the signs of domestic violence and its widespread impact, both in Colorado and across the United States. Through the Justice Program, we send founder Erica to conferences and meetings, where she shares her personal experience and knowledge to help those involved in decision-making within the judicial system.
