Event Information
When is the Rock Chalk 5K?
The Rock Chalk 5K will take place on Sunday, October 6th. The free Kids' Dash will start at 8:15 a.m., the Rock Chalk 5K at 8:30 a.m., and the 1 Mile Famly Fun Run at 8:35 a.m.
Where is the 5K held?
The 5K will begin and end at the Best Conference Center at KU Edwards Campus located at 12604 Quivira Road, Overland Park, KS, 66213.
Do you need volunteers for the race?
Yes! Volunteers are needed before, during, and after the race. To volunteer, please contact RockChalk5K@ku.edu .
Will participants get a T-shirt? Will participants get a trophy or medal?
Participants who register before Sept. 23rd will receive a KU commemorative free t-shirt & medal--this includes both Family Fun Dash & the 5K. Medals will be given to first-place winners in each age category (male & female) for the 5K.
Are strollers allowed?
Yes!
Are dogs allowed?
Yes, leashed pets are welcome if they handle crowds well and pet parents are responsible.
Will there be a gear drop-off location?
We cannot supply a secure gear drop-off location at this time.

Can I transfer my registration? Do you refund registrations?
Transferring registrations is not allowed because each runner is assigned a bib number. We do not refund registrations, the money raised will go to first-generation college students on the KU Edwards Campus.
Fundraising
Who does the race benefit?
The race benefits first-generation college students on the KU Edward Campus. A first-generation student is someone whose immediate family has not completed a four-year degree.
Do you need sponsors for the event?
Yes! If you are interested in sponsoring the event please contact Mary Dykmann at mdykmann@ku.edu.
Can I donate without participating in the race?
Yes. If you would like to donate please select the grey donate button located on the ribbon at the top of the page. If you are unable to attend in-person for the race we will have a virtual race. You can sign up for the virtual race here.
Packet Pickup
When and where do I pick up my packet?
The exact times have not been determined, but will be Friday, Oct. 4th as well as race day. Virtual racers may pick up their packets if they are in town or they will be mailed to out-of-towners the week after the race.
Can someone else pick up my packet?
Yes! Please ensure they know your specific information in case multiple people have the same name.
Parking
Where can I park for this event?
Please park in the lots closest to Jayhawk Central and the gas station. Overflow parking is located in front of the Regents Center building. To help make parking easier we are including a map of our campus.
Route Details
Are there going to be water stations along the way?
Yes. We will have a water station around the 2-mile mark.
Is there a time limit?
All participants must complete the route by 11:00 am.
Will all participants be timed?
Yes, all participants in the 5K will be timed.
